Chinese medicine, like Ayurvedic medicine, its Indian counterpart, is the science of life. This science is dedicated to grasping the laws of the life force, which includes: its flow, or movement; its balance, or harmony; its change, or transmutation (qi hua); its rhythms, or cycles; its origin, supply, assimilation, transformation, storage, release, and excretion; its pathways; its correspondences; and its functions. It was so lovely sharing revitalizing time at Carefree Gardens in Cooperstown this past weekend! I’m so thankful for the big turn out, everyone’s active enthusiasm and participation, and their genuine interest in all the ways we can enjoy more vital, vibrant lives—both personally and with others!

Enjoy a Day of Vitality!

10:00am – 4:00pm

In this experiential course, you will learn to harness your inherent life-force more deeply by establishing a conscious connection with it, experiencing how it moves, and discovering ways of enhancing it.

10:00am – Noon

The morning session will begin with gentle Pranayama breathing exercises to open your channels, followed by a Calm Abiding meditation. Then we’ll transition into a delightful Jin Jing (Tendon Strengthening) Qigong practice that will help free and strengthen your whole body.

*Wear loose, comfortable clothing (as you might for a yoga class)

Noon – 1:00pm Lunch Break
(bring your own or purchase at Origins Cafe)

1:00pm – 4:00pm
(including a tea break)

In the afternoon, we will deepen our exploration of what Qi actually is: how it’s generated and the patterned ways it moves. We’ll talk about daily and seasonal cycles, emotions, foods and herbs, and how they affect our energy.

I’m really looking forward to this upcoming 13 month Acupuncture Master Class with one of my most influential Chinese Medicine teachers, Heiner Fruehauf. So many excellent teachers and outstanding topics—there’s something for everyone!

I’ll be teaching “Maintaining Your Center with Chinese Medicine” where we’ll learn some simple methods from Chinese Medicine, Qigong, and Tibetan Buddhism that can help us ground our bodies, smoothen our breath, and bring equanimity to our minds. The class will focus on simple things we can do in our daily lives to feel more grounded and at ease.

Amanda is a licensed acupuncturist and certified herbalist, joyfully working with patients in upstate New York since 2007. After completing an undergraduate degree from Oberlin College, she studied Western Herbal Medicine at the Rocky Mtn Ctr for Botanical Studies in Boulder, CO. Around the same time, she was introduced to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and completed a Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College (2003-2007), which included a year of training in a private hospital in Beijing. The last few years, she has been actively studying Classical Chinese Medicine and Qigong, and she continues to enjoy integrating Eastern and Western herbal wisdom traditions in her clinical practice.
Amanda will be teaching "Maintaining Your Center with Chinese Medicine."
