TIP: How to Use a Foam Roller for Post-Game Recovery

Foam rolling helps reduce muscle soreness, improve circulation, and speed up recovery after a tough game. Here’s how to do it right:

✅ Focus on quads, hamstrings, calves, and glutes
✅ Roll slowly, about 1 inch per second
✅ Pause on tight spots for 20–30 seconds
✅ Breathe deeply and stay relaxed

Just 5–10 minutes can make a big difference in how you feel the next day.

Pickleball Stretch of the Week: Standing Calf Stretch 🏓🦵
Don’t skip the calves—tightness here can lead to Achilles strain and limit your mobility on the court.

✅ Stand facing a wall
✅ Step one foot back, heel down
✅ Keep both feet flat, lean into the wall
✅ Hold for 20–30 seconds, switch sides

Stretch before AND after your match to stay limber, quick, and injury-free.
Start strong. Recover smarter.

Relieve neck tension with a towel.

This simple stretch can reduce pressure in your neck and upper spine when done correctly.

Here’s how:

1. Roll up a towel and place it horizontally behind your neck while sitting or lying down.
2. Hold both ends gently and let your head rest back into the support.
3. Slowly extend your neck, letting gravity help. Do not pull.
4. Hold for 20–30 seconds, breathe deeply, and repeat as needed.

No popping. No forcing. Just support, alignment, and a little relief.

✅ Great for tension headaches, tech neck, and postural fatigue.

Why Recovery Days Matter 🛌

Rest is not a setback. It’s part of the plan.
Recovery days allow your body to repair, reduce inflammation, and come back stronger. Skipping rest can increase your risk of injury and stall progress.

If you're training hard, make sure you're recovering smart.

🎥 Plica Syndrome: What You Need to Know (Especially If You're 55+) 🦵

Knee pain doesn’t always mean you need surgery. For many patients—like a 55-year-old dealing with discomfort during daily activity—the cause could be something less severe, like Plica Syndrome.

In this video, Dr. Bramlett explains how inflamed plica tissue in the knee can mimic more serious problems, and how it’s often treated without surgery. From inflammation to irritation, he breaks down the symptoms and outlines simple, effective solutions to help you get back to moving pain-free.

If you're dealing with nagging knee pain, don’t assume the worst. It might be Plica—and it might be fixable.

This X-ray shows a lateral view of the ankle, and while X-rays are generally not the best tool for diagnosing a torn Achilles tendon (MRI or ultrasound are preferred), there are still a few indirect signs that can raise suspicion of an Achilles tear:

What the X-ray Suggests:
Soft tissue shadow changes behind the ankle joint (around the Achilles region) can sometimes be seen. In cases of a full tear, that space may look swollen, irregular, or disrupted.

The Kager’s triangle (a normally clear fat pad space above the heel bone) may appear distorted or filled in. This is a possible indicator of tendon injury.

No visible fracture is present, which helps rule out bone injury.

From weekend warriors to professional athletes, this injury hits hard.
Several NBA players have gone down with Achilles tears during high-stakes playoff moments — including stars like Kevin Durant and recently in the NBA Finals, Tyrees Haliburton.

If you felt a pop, swelling, or sudden pain near your heel, don’t wait it out.
An X-ray can help rule out fractures, but a deeper look with Dr. Bramlett helps uncover the real issue.
