National Animal Therapy Day is a reminder that healing can come in many forms—including the comfort of a loyal animal.

For those living with trauma or post-traumatic stress, therapy animals can provide a sense of safety, calm, connection, and grounding during difficult moments. Sometimes when words are hard to find, the steady presence of an animal can help ease anxiety and remind us that we are not alone.

Healing doesn’t always look the same, and sometimes the smallest companions make the biggest difference. 🐾

During National Volunteer Week, we want to recognize the people who help make our mission possible.

Thank you to our Sojourn Counseling board members and the many volunteers who give their time to support Run, Ride & Rumble for PTS Awareness each year. Your dedication helps raise awareness and expand access to trauma-informed care in our community.

Spending time outside can do more than refresh your surroundings—it can refresh your mind.

This Earth Day, take a moment to slow down, step outside, breathe deeply, and reconnect with the world around you. A walk, sunshine, fresh air, or simply sitting quietly in nature can help reduce stress, calm anxiety, and remind us that healing often begins in small moments.

The need is real—and it’s urgent.

An estimated 11–20% of veterans who served in recent conflicts experience PTS in a given year.

First responders face significantly higher risks of su***de compared to the general population.

Behind every statistic is a real person who deserves support, healing, and hope.

At Sojourn Counseling, just 10 therapy sessions can change the trajectory of someone’s life—but cost is often the biggest barrier.

We’re committed to removing that barrier.

Help us continue providing care to those who need it most. A link to the donate page is in our bio.

April is the Month of the Military Child—a time to recognize the strength and resilience of the children who serve in their own way.

Military kids often face frequent moves, new schools, and long periods of separation from a parent. These challenges can take a toll, but they don’t have to face them alone.

At Sojourn Counseling, we support not only veterans, but their spouses and children—providing care, stability, and a safe place to process life’s challenges.

Because every member of the family matters.

Today, on Gold Star Spouses Day, we honor the families who carry the weight of loss with incredible strength and courage.

At Sojourn Counseling, we walk alongside individuals and families navigating grief—offering support, care, and hope in the midst of heartbreak. Because of generous support from our community, we are able to provide grief counseling at little to no cost for those who need it most.

No one should have to face loss alone.

Help us continue supporting surviving families.

Today is World Autism Day, but awareness is only the beginning. Neurodiversity reminds us that different ways of thinking, feeling, communicating, and experiencing the world are not deficits—they are part of what makes us human.

When we approach others through a trauma-informed lens, we choose curiosity over judgment, compassion over assumptions, and support over shame. We recognize that every person has a story, and creating safe, understanding spaces matters.

Let’s move beyond awareness to acceptance, belonging, and care that honors each person’s unique experience. 💙
