Our Legislative Day was a success! 🎉

A total of 465 boxes were delivered to members of the Alabama Legislature and their staff thanks to the help of our generous contributors and volunteers. All boxes were distributed before 9:30 a.m. 👏

Special thanks to Ross Gunnells (Warrior Consulting Group) for coordinating at the State House and Phil Norris and the team at W.L. Petrey Wholesale for packing and delivering the boxes for AWDA.

At our 2024 Annual Convention, we were honored to welcome Representative Barbara Drummond and Senator Dan Roberts, who provided us with an update on their plans for the upcoming 2025 Alabama Legislative Session. We truly appreciate their dedicated efforts on behalf of the wholesale distribution industry in Alabama!

Today, The United States Department of Justice and the FDA announced the creation of a federal multi-agency task force to combat the illegal distribution and sale of e-cigarettes. https://www.fda.gov/news-events/press-announcements/justice-department-and-fda-announce-federal-multi-agency-task-force-curb-distribution-and-sale?utm_source=CTPPartnerSocial&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ctp-enforcement

“Enforcement against illegal e-cigarettes is a multi-pronged issue that necessitates a multi-pronged response,” said Dr. Brian King, the Director of FDA’s Center for To***co Products. “This ‘All Government’ approach – including the creation of this new Task Force – will bring the collective resources and experience of the federal government to bear on this pressing public health issue.”

Along with the FDA and the Justice Department, the task force will bring together multiple law enforcement partners, including the Bureau of Alcohol, To***co, Fi****ms and Explosives (ATF); the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS); the U.S. Postal Inspection Service (USPIS); and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to coordinate and streamline efforts to bring all available criminal and civil tools to bear against the illegal distribution and sale of e-cigarettes responsible for ni****ne addiction among American youth. Additional agencies may join the Task Force in the coming weeks and months.
