💛 Safe Sleep Saves Lives 💛
The Indiana Department of Health reminds us to always follow the ABCs of Safe Sleep:
🍼 A – Alone: Baby sleeps alone, with caregiver nearby in the same room.
🍼 B – Back: Always place baby on their back.
🍼 C – Crib: Use a crib with only a tight-fitting sheet—no bumper pads, pillows, blankets, or stuffed animals.
Let’s work together to keep our little ones safe. 💙

We urge parents to take steps to protect the health and safety of their infants following a surge this month of deaths caused by unsafe sleep environments.

Unsafe situations often involve co-sleeping with an adult (such as in a bed), blankets and pillows in the baby’s crib, or the baby being placed on his or her stomach to sleep.

Remember the ABCs of safe sleep:
1️⃣ Alone: Babies should be placed alone with caregiver nearby in the same room
2️⃣ Back: On his or her back
3️⃣ Crib: With only a tight-fitting sheet, no bumper pads, pillows, blankets or stuffed animals

💉 August is National Immunization Awareness Month!
Vaccines aren’t just for kids. They’re a vital part of staying healthy throughout life. From childhood immunizations to adult boosters and seasonal vaccines like flu and RSV, staying up to date helps protect you and those around you.

✅ Check your vaccine records (We can help you with that!).
✅ Protect your loved ones and community.
✅ Stay Accurately Informed from reliable sources (like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC]).

On Thursday, June 26, the Switzerland County Health Department, along with members of the Switzerland County Health Department Board, held a luncheon to honor Joe Spiller and Joyce Fields, RN.

Joe Spiller was an invaluable member of our team, serving as the Sanitarian/Environmentalist for 10 years and then as a dedicated board member for over 16 years. Joyce Fields faithfully served as the County Nurse for over 28 years. We want to express our most sincere thanks for their decades of dedicated service to the Switzerland County Community.
