🦷Dental Hygiene Week Spotlight: Get to Know our Hygienist !✨

Lupe has been a dedicated dental hygienist for 18 years, bringing experience, compassion, and consistency to every patient she serves.
Outside the office, her life is full and family-centered, her husband and their two boys keep her constantly on the go. Faith plays a big role in her life, as she enjoys attending Mass and teaching CCD, while also staying actively involved with her nieces, nephews, and Godchildren.
In her rare moments of free time, Lupe loves relaxing with college softball games 🥎 and getting lost in a good book 📕.

1 🪥 What made you fall in love with dental hygiene?

I fell in love with dental hygiene because I enjoy helping people feel great about being able to have a confident smile.

2🪥What's one thing you pride in when it comes to your work? 🫶🏽

I take pride in being thorough with my patients.
I want them to feel cared for.

3 🪥What's a small win at work that always makes your day?

A small win that makes my day is when I see a patient that enjoys coming to see me and remembers my name!😌

4🪥How do you make nervous patients feel comfortable?

I focus on communication explaining everything before I do it, checking in often, and going at their pace. Sometimes just listening and being calm makes all the difference.

5🪥What keeps you
motivated, even on long or tough days?

What keeps me motivated is knowing every patient trusts me to get that plaque and calculus outta there!

6🪥Fun question: What's something people would never guess about you?

People would probably never guess that I drive 1 hour to work. What can I say, I enjoy my fellow hygienist company @ Lakkin & Julie.💕

Julie loves spending time with her husband and her two growing sons. You can often find her in the bleachers at her sons’ athletic games, teaching religious education, or planning events for the Meyersville Country Club. She has a hard time saying no when it comes to helping her community, her church, or anyone in need. In her free time, she enjoys dancing, hunting, fishing, and camping with family and friends. 💕📖

1🪥 What inspired you to become a dental hygienist?

I was always that kid brushing my teeth. Every friend’s house I stayed at, I had a toothbrush there just for me.

2🪥 What’s your favorite part of interacting with patients?

I’m passionate about educating patients on how oral health and airway tie into overall systemic health something that’s often overlooked in the medical field.

3 🪥 Whats one oral health habit you never skip?

I’d be a hypocrite not doing the basics brushing and flossing is non-negotiable. 😂

4 🪥What’s something patients would be surprised to learn about your job?

We actually had to work on a real patient to pass our board test it wasn’t just a written exam.

5🪥 What motivates you to keep going on busy days?

Catching up with my patients and what's going on in their lives. Building relationships and meeting great people always keeps it fun.

6🪥 Fun question: What’s your favorite way to relax after work? 👀💆🏽‍♀️

That 25-minute silent drive home after work hits every time.

Lakkin is a faith driven boy mom of twins 💙 In her free time, she enjoys making memories with her husband and their almost 2-year-old boys especially anywhere near the water 🌊☀️

1🪥What’s one thing you wish patients understood about oral hygiene at home?

More pressure doesn’t mean cleaner teeth,brushing too hard can wear away enamel and harm your gums.

2🪥What’s your go-to tip for patients who struggle with flossing consistently?

Do what works best for your lifestyle such as Water-flosser, floss pick or reg string floss.

3🪥What’s the most common mistake you see patients make with their oral care routine?

One of the most common mistakes I see patients make is relying on brushing alone and not cleaning between their teeth consistently.

4🪥What’s your favorite part about being a dental hygienist?

My favorite part about being a dental hygienist is the relationships I build with my patients. I really like helping people feel comfortable in the chair, especially if they’re nervous, and then seeing their confidence grow as their oral health gets better over time.


5🪥Fun question: If you weren’t a dental hygienist, what would your dream job be? 👀✨

Full time stay at home mom! I really enjoy just being at home with my family and making sweet memories.
