This month at Excel Scientific, we’re highlighting the hard work of Ariagna Gomez, Machine Operator I. What is this role like, and what are some of Ariagna’s favorite things about it?

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰?
I’ve been a Machine Operator for four years, and I’ll be celebrating five years at Excel Scientific this February!

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗜 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲?
This role requires impeccable attention to detail, reliability, and strong time-
management skills. You need to be willing to learn new processes, troubleshoot issues as they arise, and problem-solve in a fast-paced production environment. Communication and teamwork are also important, since the production room depends on everyone working together to ensure high-quality product is produced and sent out to customers on time. Being adaptable and staying focused under pressure are key parts of the job.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲?
My favorite part of the job is the fast-paced environment and the challenge that comes with meeting tight deadlines. I enjoy the problem-solving aspect and the constant learning. This role has pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me grow both professionally and personally, opening doors to opportunities I never expected when I first started.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗿?
At Excel Scientific we are a close-knit team, we all know each other, and there are no hidden faces. The company truly sees the potential in its employees and encourages growth. I started here as a packager with no plans of becoming an operator, and now here I am. Excel wants you to succeed and helps you get there.

Take responsibility for your work and learn from your mistakes, everyone makes them. Don’t be afraid to try new things or ask questions, a good operator takes initiative. Growth comes from being open to learning and pushing yourself.

Working in production at Excel Scientific involves combining teamwork and process building with operational excellence. This month, we’re featuring 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗥𝘂𝗶𝘇, 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱 who has been with us for a little over two years. How does Lesley’s role contribute to her team, Excel Scientifics, and the products we send out into the world?

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲?
As a Production Specialist Lead, it’s important to create a positive, inclusive, team-oriented environment while helping production processes run smoothly and efficiently. This role requires strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality, ensuring all procedures are followed correctly.

It also involves training and supporting team members, improving processes, and making sure the team stays safe and compliant.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗷𝗼𝗯?
My favorite part of this job is working closely with my team, supporting their growth, improving processes, and helping create a positive work environment. I enjoy seeing the results of our work when everything runs smoothly and we deliver high quality products to our customers.

Excel Scientific, Inc. supports laboratories and researchers through sealing films and lab consumables that protect sample integrity and help ensure accurate results. These tools play a role in studies that advance metabolic health, glucose monitoring, and an overall better understanding of diabetes.

This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a deep understanding of order processing, shipping logistics, and customer service operations. It’s not just moving orders; it’s about creating and maintaining the processes that ensure every customer receives a consistent and timely experience. You need to listen carefully to customer needs, address their concerns with urgency and empathy, and provide clear communication from start to finish. You also have to build workflows that reduce errors, and make it easier for both the team and customers to navigate every interaction with confidence.

My favorite part is the balance between problem-solving, leading my team, and connecting with people. I enjoy coaching my team members, aligning us all toward the same goals, and making sure everyone has the tools and guidance they need to succeed. I also love working directly with customers, finding solutions to their challenges, anticipating their needs, and ensuring they receive the same level of care every single time. Seeing both my team and our customers benefit from the processes and systems we’ve built is incredibly fulfilling.

• Attention to detail, problem solving and multitasking.

What is your favorite part of this job?
• I take pride in being deeply involved in nearly every facet of production and customer order fulfillment, which allows me to contribute meaningfully across the entire process. My role also provides the opportunity to interact with associates regularly and to mentor team members.

What do you like about Excel Scientific as a company/employer?
• I'm fortunate to work under exceptional leadership and have access to incredible opportunities for growth.

What would you say to someone who wanted to have a job like yours?
• If you enjoy being hands-on, solving problems, and seeing the direct results of your work, you'd probably love this kind of role. It involves a bit of everything—production, logistics, teamwork, and customer satisfaction. It helps to be adaptable, detail-oriented, and ready to jump in wherever you're needed. If you're someone who likes staying busy and learning on the go, it's a great fit.
