 It’s July.

It’s summer in Rural Georgia and the heat is brutal. We’ve reached a point where the humidity is front a center and the afternoon storms demand attention. We are all enjoying the slowdown of summer, but we are secretly anticipating cooler temperatures.

In the throes of summer, I’m thankful for our staff. The heat may demand the attention, but our staff does not.

They are quietly in the background trying to help people. They listen intently, offer support, and comfort those who need support.

We have staff dedicated to our treatment program for adults while we have staff who help our kids in the community learn coping skills.

We have staff who answer the phones and lend a listening ear, and we have staff who help people navigate community resources. We even have staff that helps us add up all the numbers so we can maintain ALL the reporting requirements.

Our job is not to be front and center like the summer heat, but it’s to be here for those who may need us.

The summer heat will come and go, but our staff is here year round to help anyone who may need it.
