Meadows Mission Moment 💙🧡🤍

When a pediatric patient arrived at our Emergency Department experiencing new onset seizures, the situation quickly became critical. The patient required intubation and urgent transport to Atlanta for a higher level of care. However, severe weather created significant barriers, making transportation both complex and uncertain.

Our team did what Meadows does best. They showed up.

Working tirelessly alongside multiple agencies, the team explored every possible option to ensure this patient could get the care they needed. In the midst of this challenge, Ann Marie stepped forward in an extraordinary way. On her night off, she came into the hospital without hesitation and made the decision to ride with EMS, ensuring the patient received the critical level of care required during transport.

Because of her compassion, commitment, and willingness to go above and beyond, this patient safely made it to Atlanta.

Ann Marie exemplifies what it means to live our mission. She did not just do her job. She showed up for a patient and family in one of their most difficult moments, reminding us all that at Meadows, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life in every situation, no matter the obstacles.

Welcoming Baby Jack 💙

There is something special about the moment a family meets their newest little one. For Jack’s family, that moment happened right here at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital.

“From the moment we arrived, you could tell the team at Meadows truly works together. Several staff members helped get me settled, and others even stopped in just to check on my nurses to make sure they had everything they needed. It was clear everyone was looking out for each other and for us.”

This was their second delivery at Meadows, and the experience meant even more this time around.

“Angel and Jenny made me feel like I was the only patient in the department and delivering my baby was their only priority. So many team members made us feel like family, but Angel and Jenny really put me before themselves. I can never say thank you enough.”

One moment during labor stood out most.

“Angel’s patience during our delivery is what I will always remember. She had already been working long hours. My labor had stalled and we were pushing for over an hour, but she never changed. She stayed encouraging, full of ideas, and persistent. I was exhausted, but she and Jenny kept me going. My delivery could have ended very differently if they had not been by my side.”

As a nurse herself, she knows the importance of compassionate care.

“As a nurse, I can honestly say there is no better place to welcome the sweetest addition to your family.”

Welcome to the world, Baby Jack. Thank you to our incredible LDRP team for showing what it means to care like family.

📚 Celebrating Read Across America Week

This week, our leaders and providers stepped outside the hospital and into the classrooms to celebrate Read Across America Week. We spent time reading to classes, soaking up the giggles, and getting a few sweet hugs along the way.

Before becoming one of the most beloved children’s authors, Dr. Seuss’s first book was rejected 27 times. His story is a great reminder that perseverance matters and that striving to be better is always worth the effort. It is a simple reflection of our cultural cornerstone of Pursuit of Excellence, encouraging the next generation to keep learning, growing, and believing in what is possible.

Thank you to the schools who welcomed us and to our colleagues who took time to show up for our community. 📖✨

✨Three weeks post-op and back to being a kid

When Collins needed a procedure to place tubes in her ears, her family chose Memorial Health Meadows Hospital, where her surgery was performed by Dr. R Wayne Williams.

From registration through recovery, the day was organized, efficient, and filled with kindness. Every member of the surgical team took time to answer questions, explain each step, and ensure both Collins and her mom felt at ease.

The pre-operative team created a calm and welcoming environment. The anesthesia provider spoke clearly and reassuringly about the process. The OR team even gave Collins her own little “parade” as she headed back for surgery, turning a nervous moment into something special.

In recovery, thoughtful touches like a coloring book and juice helped her bounce back quickly. Throughout it all, Dr. Williams’ confident and compassionate bedside manner gave her mom peace of mind.

“As a mom, there is no better feeling than knowing we have a surgical unit like we do here at home,” Collins’ mom shared. “The entire team went out of their way to make us feel comfortable.”

The procedure went so smoothly that Collins was home watching Elsa and enjoying snacks less than two hours later. She even made it to her Valentine’s Day class party that afternoon.

Nearly three weeks post-op, she is fully recovered and back to normal life.

For parents facing a child’s surgery, this family’s message is simple: you can rest easy knowing your child is surrounded by a team that truly cares.

Every birth story is unique.🤰 For some moms, it may involve cesarean delivery, also known as a C-section. Doctors perform this major abdominal surgery for a variety of reasons, often related to complications during pregnancy or delivery. If you’re expecting a baby, it’s important to understand the risks and benefits of the procedure. For example, having a C-section increases the chance that you will need a C-section for future deliveries.

Each year, more than 200,000 babies are born in hospitals across our broader HCA Healthcare network. If you’re expecting and exploring your birth options – including when a C section might be recommended – finding the right obstetrician is an important first step. Meet our experts and schedule an appointment: https://bit.ly/4u7eCzR

As a proud partner of March of Dimes, HCA Healthcare is committed to improving maternal and neonatal outcomes through clinical data, pioneering research and compassionate care. Learn more about C-sections from March of Dimes: https://bit.ly/4rWnNSs

A Birth Story Surrounded by Familiar Faces and Extraordinary Care

When sweet Ellie Hope made her arrival, it was not quite the delivery her family expected. What began as a routine labor quickly shifted when her heart rate dropped, and the team moved swiftly into an emergency cesarean section.

In a moment filled with urgency, the care team remained calm, steady, and reassuring.

“I went in expecting a simple delivery, but we were rushed into an emergency c-section. The team stayed so calm and explained everything so well. That definitely helped.”

Although this was her third baby, nothing about the moment felt routine. As an OR nurse at Meadows herself, Danielle understands what happens behind the scenes. Still, her team never assumed she knew what was going on. They explained each step, checked on her constantly, and made sure she felt safe and supported.

What made the experience even more meaningful were the familiar faces surrounding her.

Dr. Meredith, who delivered her two older babies, came to check on her as soon as she heard she was headed to surgery. Nurses who cared for her during previous deliveries were there again during this high stress moment. Seeing members of her OR family provided an added layer of peace of mind and allowed her to focus fully on Ellie, knowing she was in excellent hands.

After delivery, that same thoughtful care continued. In recovery, her nurse kept a close eye on Ellie in the nursery while communicating with her husband, Michael, who serves as a CRNA. That connection ensured both parents felt informed and reassured every step of the way.

“I have never had a more perfect example of care like family. From the moment we arrived until we were discharged, I felt like my entire family was cared for and loved so well during such a special time of our life.”

At home, big siblings are adjusting beautifully. Avery Grace proudly refers to Ellie as “her baby,” and all three have stepped into their new roles as helpers.

When asked if she would recommend Memorial Health Meadows Hospital to other moms, her answer was heartfelt and clear.

“I would absolutely recommend Meadows. From the providers to the nursing staff and even leadership, I know the care provided will be exceptional. That is a huge reason why I have continued to use Meadows for all three of my deliveries.”

Moments like this reflect what it truly means to care like family.
