Over the course of a week, students are offered all required food components: protein, whole grains, fruits, vegetable subgroups, and milk.
During meal service, we guide and remind students to “fill their tray” with a balanced selection. However, students ultimately make their own choices within the guidelines provided. While some may choose only a sandwich and fruit, we consistently encourage them to take all components to ensure they receive a complete, nutritious meal.
Our goal is to nourish students while also helping them develop healthy, well-rounded eating habits. One important part of our job is introducing students to foods they may not typically eat at home and encouraging them to try a variety of options.
