PANDAS (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections) &
PANS (Pediatric Acute-Onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome) are conditions that can develop in children after a bacterial or viral infection, such as strep throat. They can cause a range of symptoms, including with in 6 months of a strep infection: Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), Anxiety, Depression, Tics, and Changes in behavior or mood.
It is important to get tested when you're sick to make sure you don’t need antibiotics for strep to prevent these complications.
