We had a great time this past weekend hosting a community clinic at BMO Elite Performance, made possible through one of our students.

Thank you to Miguel and Fran for opening up their beautiful space and helping us treat local athletes and their families. It was a great opportunity to connect and support recovery.

Episode 140 of The Running Wine Mom features our very own Dr. Haley Parker of VUIM Clinic, diving into why so many women runners feel burnt out, inflamed, or stuck in an overtraining loop. They break down cortisol, hormones, under‑fueling, the menstrual cycle, and how acupuncture and Eastern medicine support real recovery. It’s a powerful reminder that your body isn’t fighting you—it’s communicating with you.

While in Florida for meetings, our CEO John Yoo and Dean of Strategic Initiatives James Lee caught up with VUIM alum Masahiro Takahagi, now an athletic trainer for the Miami Heat. Masahiro graciously gave them an inside tour of the facility, and they were invited to attend the game where Bam Adebayo broke the NBA record for most points in a single game. We’re happy to see all that he’s doing and the impact he’s making.

Dr. Janet Siddiqui and Dr. Haley Parker recently led an engaging session at the summit focused on the power of meditation and integrative medicine. Together, they shared insights on how practices like acupuncture can support overall health and well-being, while also guiding an interactive experience for more than 60 nurses in attendance.

They were joined by three VUIM students who helped provide ear seeds and facilitated meditation and breathwork throughout the session. It was an inspiring opportunity to introduce healthcare professionals to integrative approaches and demonstrate how these practices can support both whole patient care and provider wellness.

As the Venerable monks are now safely back in Texas, we take a look back at their final stop in Washington, D.C., where our alum Tae Rim, LAc, a 2022 graduate of the research‑focused Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) program at VUIM, and Mark Bodzislaw, LAc, current faculty member and clinical supervisor at our Vienna, VA campus and clinic, were able to take part in offering acupuncture to everyone after their long journey.

Today marks a rare and meaningful convergence of global traditions as we recognize Seollal (Korean Lunar New Year), the Lunar New Year, and the beginning of Ramadan. On behalf of VUIM and VUIM Clinic, we extend our warmest wishes to our students, patients, faculty, partners, and communities around the world.
These observances embody enduring values of renewal, reflection, discipline, family, and service to others—principles that closely align with our mission to advance integrative medicine and improve human health.

As we celebrate the Lunar New Year and the start of Ramadan, we look forward to a year of continued growth, innovation, and opportunity, while also reflecting on the power of compassion and empathy to strengthen bonds and unite diverse communities within healthcare and beyond.

We are deeply grateful for the trust and collaboration of our global partners, friends, and colleagues. Together, we remain committed to building a healthier, more compassionate world grounded in mutual respect, understanding, and peaceful coexistence.

Happy Seollal. Happy Lunar New Year. Ramadan Mubarak.
