Our Story
Dr. Starr is board certified in Internal Medicine. He sees patients over the age of 17, and has experience with endocrine disorders. He is a native of Orange County, California, and a Veteran of the United States Air Force. His undergraduate education was at the University of California, Irvine. He attended medical school at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, and completed his Internal Medicine residency through the University of North Dakota, in Fargo, ND in 2009. He worked for the Indian Health Service for two years at the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska, and subsequently worked in private practice in Bismarck, North Dakota. Dr. Starr enjoys spending his free time with his wife and children, as much as possible. He enjoys learning to speak Spanish, running and remaining active, as well as winding down playing guitar and bass.
Julie, ARNP-BC, is board certified in adult gerontology. She has a particular interest in caring for our older population, but she can see ages 15 on up. Julie received her graduate training through Duke University, in NC. She received her undergraduate nursing training from the University of Mary, in Bismarck, ND, graduating with honors. She is a veteran of the United States Air Force, having spent some time on active duty after 9/11, with the North Dakota Air National Guard. In her free time, Julie enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her family.
At Starr Internal Medicine, we offer primary care for acute and chronic disease, to include management of injuries, minor sprains, lacerations. We are not endocrinologists, but we have an interest in endocrinology, and have experience caring for patients with endocrine disorders. We see patients 17 years and older, but case-by-case exceptions can be addressed. We do not follow our patients in the inpatient setting at Melbourne Regional Medical Center (formerly Wuesthoff), instead one Internal Medicine colleague admits and follows our patients. He ensures our office receives updates on the health status of our hospitalized patients. Upon discharge a follow up visit in our clinic will be scheduled. We feel this continuum of care is essential.
