Seeking Feedback: Proposed Revisions to the Infection Prevention and Control (IC) Chapter Requirements for the Behavioral Health Care and Human Services (BHC) Program Field Review

The Joint Commission is proposing revisions to the “Infection Prevention and Control” (IC) chapter requirements for behavioral health care organizations and would like your feedback. The proposed IC revised standards will replace the current requirements in July 2025. The last day feedback will be accepted is July 16th.

In recognition of mental health awareness month, let's prioritize our well-being and challenge the stigma surrounding mental health. Open conversations, self-care practices like healthy sleep and exercise, and seeking help when needed are all essential. Resources like NAMI, MentalHealth.gov, and the Crisis Text Line are readily available to provide support, information, and crisis intervention services for people struggling with mental health. By working together and fostering a supportive environment, we can ensure mental health receives the attention it deserves.

Today, use of telehealth services is 38 times higher than it was pre-pandemic, affording increased access to healthcare for more patients.

To support this uptake, The Joint Commission has developed a new Telehealth Accreditation Program for organizations that deliver care only via telehealth as well as those that provide care via telehealth to another organization's patients.
