We are proud to celebrate Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) student Natalie Kasper, 2025-26 recipient of the M. Louise Fitzpatrick Scholarship from the Nurses Educational Funds, Inc (NEF). This scholarship honors the legacy of the late M. Louise Fitzpatrick, EdD, RN, FAAN, inaugural dean and namesake of Villanova University’s College of Nursing (1978-2017), and a dedicated NEF board member for many years.

Natalie is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at the School-Based Health program of Nemours Children’s Health in Delaware, where she discovered her passion for enhancing children's health outcomes and improving access to care. With the support of her NEF M. Amanda Cassidy was recently honored on the big screen in the lobby of Premise Health at AstraZeneca in Philadelphia, recognizing her achievement as the inaugural recipient of Villanova Nursing’s Heart of the Mission Award.

Now serving as an Occupational Health RN, in 2022-2024 she partnered with the NYPD to provide physical and mental nursing support to the city's unhoused population sheltering in the subway. A proud 2018 alumna and Young Alumni Board member, Amanda truly lives out Villanova Nursing's mission in her work every day.

This week, our Second Degree BSN Express students took part in a unique classroom simulation, Caring for a Client Status Post Su***de Attempt. The session utilized standardized patients, the AI-driven SimConverse platform, and the interactive tool PollEverywhere.

Led by Clinical Assistant Instructors Gwendolyn Morris, MSN, CRNP, PMHNP-BC, and Heather Polidori, MSN, RN, students watched various scenes, then worked in small groups to discuss and share perspectives on the techniques demonstrated during the simulation.

Graduate-level courses in the M. Louise Fitzpatrick College of Nursing give practicing nurses an opportunity to build their expertise and knowledge. In Advanced Pathophysiology, nurses take on the role of health care detectives, investigating the science behind diseases and chronic conditions.
