This year’s honoree is Barbara Sattler, RN, DrPH, FAAN, Professor Emeritus at the University of San Francisco. An international leader in environmental health and nursing, Dr. Sattler will share her lecture, “Everything, Everywhere, All at Once.”

Congratulations to Lara Ratliff who had a successful dissertation defense. The title of her study is “The Intersection of Intimate Partner Violence, Maternal Depression, and Geographical Residence in Virginia.”

Dr. Amy McKeever served as her chair, and her committee member was Dr. Ruth McDermott-Levy. The examiners for Lara’s defense were Drs. Catherine Curley and Kim Trout.

Dr. Lara Ratliff is the 138th graduate of the FCN PhD program. Congratulations, Dr. Ratliff!

In gratitude for the transformative impact of his own Villanova experience, and recognizing the enriching effect it has today, George and his wife, Katie, recently decided to make a generous $5 million commitment to the University through their estate plans. The Colemans’ planned gift will directly benefit the Veronica Ryan Coleman Endowed Scholarship, awarded to an academically gifted full-time student in the M. Louise Fitzpatrick College of Nursing, established in memory of George’s late mother.

The American Academy of Nursing’s 2025 Health Policy Conference this past weekend brought special recognition to individuals deeply connected to Villanova Nursing.

Connelly Endowed Dean and Professor Donna S. Havens, PhD, RN, FAAN, congratulates Bill Conway Jr. on his recognition as an Honorary Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, shared with his wife, the late Joanne Barkett Conway. Founders of the Bedford Falls Foundation, the Conways have generously invested in nursing education at Villanova and across the country, continuing to elevate the profession and empower future generations of nurses.

Howley Family Visiting Professor in Healthcare Molly K. McCarthy, MBA, BSN, RN-NI, was also honored as a 2025 Fellow of the Academy. A global health strategy and technology leader and host of the podcast, “The Smart Care Team Spotlight,” she is a former U.S. Chief Nursing Officer for Microsoft.
