My lunch today: Delicious “Spaghetti Casserole”, made with spaghetti squash, baked in its shell.

Who says you can’t enjoy spaghetti anymore because of the highly processed wheat flour noodles? Throw in aside salad dressed with a healthy, homemade ranch dressing, and you have a delicious, nutrient dense meal!

To prepare, bake a spaghetti squash whole in a 400 degree oven for one hour. Be sure to punch holes in the squash before baking, for ventilation. Tip: bake ahead of time so that you can allow time for it to cool before cutting. Then cut in half, remove seeds with a spoon, then take a fork and begin pulling flesh away from shell to produce “spaghetti noodles “. Remove squash from shell and put in a large bowl. Put aside. Keep empty shells to fill with “spaghetti “ mixture.

Prepare sauce with fresh ground beef, diced onions, bell pepper, and minced garlic. Season to taste. Add tomato paste, with water. Lower heat to low and cover with a lid. Simmer for about an hour until sauce is cooked.

Then pour sauce over spaghetti squash and mix thoroughly. (I like to reserve a little sauce to pour over when casserole is done, so that it is not dry).

Once thoroughly mixed, transfer mixture back into shells and place one a baking pan. Pop into preheated oven for about fifteen minutes until hot.

Remove from oven and enjoy!

Most people have never really thought about metabolism and how it actually works in our bodies. Yet, metabolic dysfunction is the root cause of nearly every chronic disease torturing American lives today - from childhood all the way to our senior years.

Chronic illnesses are exploding across America at epidemic levels. These include things like obesity, fatty liver disease, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, cancer, hypertension, etc. - all end products of metabolic dysfunction.

And the root cause of metabolic dysfunction is the consumption of processed foods!

If we want to get our health back, we absolutely must get processed foods out of our diet, and get back to eating real, whole, and nutritious foods!

Nine Warning Signs You're Not Eating Enough Protein - Fix This ASAP!

1. Lack of protein causes processed food cravings. When you have insufficient protein in your diet, you WILL OVEREAT!

2. Fatty Liver... When protein intake is insufficient, the liver's ability to package lipid proteins which transport triglycerides to other parts of the body is reduced, thereby accumulating fat around the liver.

3. Weight gain and weight loss restistance...due to reduced satiety and increased caloric intake.

4. Edema & Swelling...Lack of protein can impair the lymphatic system's ability to drain excess fluid leading to a build up of fluid and swelling, particularly in the legs, ankles, and feet.

5. Hair, Skin, & Nail Problems...Protein is a fundamental building block for these tissues.

6. Mood Changes & Cognitive Issues...Low protein intake can lead to a decrease in seratonin production which is associated with depression, anxiety and mood instability.

7. Muscle Weakness & Muscle Loss... Insufficient protein intake, particularly in older adults, can lead to sarcopenia.

8. Chronic Headaches...Protein helps maintain fluid balance. Insufficient protein can lead to an imbalance in electrolytes such as sodium and potassium. This can lead to dehydration or fluid retention, both of which are know to cause headaches.

9. Hormone Imbalances

So many people equate losing weight and getting healthy to bo***ge and restriction, saying "I don't want to restrict myself!"

I'd ask you to look at it from a different angle...

Having a hard time walking up the steps without being winded? You are restricted.

Can't find cute clothes that fit off the rack? You are restricted.

Are you a slave to going to the doctor and buying medications? You are restricted.

The rest of the family can play and walk and live life while you sit on the sidelines? You are restricted.

Are you having a hard time bending over to tie your shoes? You are restricted.

Do you delete photos of yourself or refuse to be in them? You are restricted.

Do you lack confidence to go on a date or to get that promotion? You are restricted.

So stand back and look at your situation objectively. Living a healthy lifestyle is not restriction, it is freedom at its finest!!
