Happy retirement to Rob and Suzi today. They have been a benefit not only to the hospital as a whole, but to our hospice program as well. We wish them well, from the GSH Hospice team!

Join us in congratulating Rob McLin, CEO, and his Administrative Assistant, Suzi Sievers, on their well deserved retirements from Good Samaritan! Today is their last day after 34 and 36 years, respectively. We wish them both well in their retirements!

Our annual Light Up a Life memorial service is coming up! We have decided to make some slight changes and try something new due to things being a little hectic at the end of the year and holiday time. The service this year will be after the New Year on Tuesday, January 13th, 2026! We are very excited for this wonderful evening and hope to see you there.

There are still a couple weeks left to get the name of your loved one submitted to be placed on the banner and read during the program.

Please contact our office or use the online giving option QR code attached to RSVP for the event to help us with our planning.

Happy to share new information about our hospice service.

Good Samaritan has announced that CommonSpirit Health at Home will acquire and assume operations of Good Samaritan Hospice, ensuring continued access to compassionate, end-of-life care for patients and families across Indiana and Illinois.

Following Good Samaritan’s earlier announcement regarding the planned closure of its hospice program at the end of 2025, leadership began exploring options that would allow hospice services to continue for patients and families in the region. Through that process, CommonSpirit Health at Home was identified as the organization best positioned to assume ownership and continue the hospice program without interruption.

Please see the information that was shared today about our Hospice program. We will be notifying our patients and families with more details on this transition and the resources available to them. Good Samaritan is working closely with regional hospice providers and is actively exploring multiple partnership strategies to ensure hospice care throughout the communities we serve is provided seamlessly.

Good Samaritan has announced the difficult decision to close its hospice program effective December 31, 2025. The decision, made by the hospital’s Executive Team and Board of Governors, follows a careful evaluation of health care trends and reflects Good Samaritan’s commitment to responsible stewardship and long-term sustainability.

“Since its beginning, our hospice team has provided extraordinary, compassionate care to patients and families across our region,” said Rob McLin, CEO of Good Samaritan. “We hold deep respect for that legacy and are committed to supporting our patients, families, and hospice team throughout this transition.”

Over the years, the delivery of hospice care has evolved, with services increasingly provided by organizations dedicated exclusively to end-of-life care. In response to these changes, Good Samaritan is focusing on meeting community needs through its core hospital and outpatient service offerings, while ensuring continuity of care for hospice patients.

Importantly, Good Samaritan will continue to provide palliative care services, which have long operated in conjunction with hospice. Palliative care remains a required component of the hospital’s Commission on Cancer accreditation and will continue to ensure patients have access to specialized, comfort-focused support.

“We have a responsibility to make decisions that protect the future of our community-driven hospital,” McLin added. “By making this transition proactively, while we are in a position of stability, we can provide thoughtful support to our patients, families, and team through the change.”

As part of the transition, all current hospice patients will receive a letter with more details about the transition and the resources available to them. Good Samaritan is working closely with regional hospice providers and is actively exploring multiple partnership strategies to ensure hospice care throughout the communities we serve is provided seamlessly.

All impacted hospice staff will be offered positions within Good Samaritan, and the organization is committed to supporting each individual through the transition.
