Respiratory illnesses tend to rise during the winter months, and COVID‑19 continues to circulate in our communities. Staying informed helps protect yourself and those around you.
👥 Who Is Most Vulnerable?
• Adults 65+
• People with chronic conditions or weakened immune systems
• Pregnant individuals
🤧 Common Symptoms
• Fever or chills
• Cough or sore throat
• Shortness of breath
• Fatigue or body aches
• Headache
• Congestion or runny nose
• Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
• Loss of taste or smell (less common but still possible)
⏱️ When Do Symptoms Start?
Symptoms typically begin 2–14 days after exposure, with most people developing symptoms within 3–5 days, depending on the variant and individual immune response.
🧪 When Should I Take a COVID‑19 Test?
• If you have symptoms
• 3–5 days after exposure
• Before visiting high‑risk individuals
•If using a rapid home test and the result is negative but symptoms continue, repeat testing after 48 hours.
👤 What If I’ve Been Exposed?
• Monitor for symptoms for 10 days
• Test 3–5 days after exposure, or sooner if symptoms appear
💊 What Treatments Are Available?
•Most people recover at home with rest, fluids, and symptom management.
•For individuals at higher risk, antiviral treatments may reduce the risk of severe illness—but they must be started early.
•Contact your primary care provider for their recommendation specific to you.
