About Us
For over 60 years, Goodwin Family Funeral Home has been serving the Knox County community. In 1944, Ross & Mavorette Flummerfelt founded Flummerfelt Funeral Home, the home that would later become Goodwin Funeral Home. Jerry Goodwin worked at Flummerfelt prior to attending Indianapolis Mortuary School and became a partner at the home in 1968 after completing his apprenticeship in Northern Indiana.
In 1975, Jerry and Carolyn Goodwin became owners of the renamed Goodwin Family Funeral Home. They were joined by their sons David and Tim in the 1980s, after both completed Vincennes University Mortuary Program. Another graduate of the program, Chris Sievers, joined Goodwin Family Funeral Home in 2000. Four years later, Chris became a partner in the business when Jerry and Carolyn sold the home to David and Tim. In 2011, the business grew again when Gardner-Brockman Funeral Home was acquired. In early 2017 David Goodwin, Tim Goodwin and Chris Sievers purchased the building and property at 2020 State Street in Washington and have completely renovated the facility. The state of the art facility opened to the community of Daviess County in late 2018, and the new location will feature a spacious funeral home on one level with ample parking, and a large kitchen area for families. In April of 2019 the name was changed to Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home and Dave, Tim and Chris are proud of their rich past and look forward to providing Knox and Daviess County families with the best services and facilities for many years to come.
