Day 337: I was very impressed with Sedation this morning as they were actually early. Everything went great and they switched the NJ tube to the right side to give his left nostril a break, which I was glad for this because the port is now on the right side and it’s so much easier for me to have both things on the same side.
He was finally released from the hospital and is spending the night at the Ronald McDonald house or as he calls it, the castle.
He gets a couple days of a break and then goes back to the clinic on Friday, to officially start maintenance!!

We are still waiting for him to come out of sedation, but before he went back we had fun taking pictures. He loves his face without the tube. I talked to him about keeping it out, but he will be starting maintenance soon. Maintenance consists of 8-10 medications, daily. Carson is just not ready for that, so we will stick with “tubie” for a little while longer.

Day 336: Carson had surgery this morning. First time everything was completed in a timely manner! He had a new port placed on the right side, ears cleaned, tubes placed, spinal fluid extracted and chemotherapy infused into his spine. He had to have a breathing tube placed to help breathe for him during surgery. While removing the breathing tube, his NJ tube came out with it. Radiology was not available to immediately replace it, so now he has to go back under sedation tomorrow. As aggravating as it is for another sedation, I am just thankful everything went smoothly, with 3 different doctors, performing 3 completely different procedures. NJ tube replacement is scheduled for tomorrow at 8am. I hope the process goes as smoothly as it did today.
Picture with hat is from yesterday; He was so excited to wear his new Bulls hat. The bathtub picture was him proclaiming to be “The King” last night.
Carson is still pretty sleepy right now. He was not feeling pictures at all.

Day 335: All the prayers and positive vibes worked!!! Carson’s ANC was 1000 this morning. 🙌 Surgery is scheduled for tomorrow at 8am.
He loves telling all the nurses that his “crew” has hooked him up with snacks, gift cards, games and toys. Carson said he loves having a crew and wanted to thank everyone. I appreciate everything as well; It helps with these long days.

Day 334: Nothing has really changed today. They gave him a break on bloodwork today, so the next set of labs will be tomorrow at 4 AM and we’re just hoping for high count numbers. He continues to enjoy all the goodies coming in from everyone. It really brightens his day to see all the packages and letters.

Day 333: I didn’t get any pictures, but 2 of Carson’s brothers came to visit today. Mammy watched Carson so I could spend some time with them!
Carson is full of energy even though his counts aren’t showing it. His ANC yesterday was 790, today it dropped to 540. He has to be at least at 750 to proceed with surgery Monday. Please send prayers and positive vibes for his counts to rise by Sunday.
He is enjoying all his surprises. Carson has been stuck in his room for over a week now. He doesn’t get to leave even though he has no symptoms of being sick. It is so hard on him. 😔

Day 332: Happy New Year! Surgery is planned for Monday. If all goes well he will have a new port placed, ear tubes and a spinal tap infused with chemo. Carson is still in isolation, so I had to have his picture photoshopped to include his favorite employee on 7West.

Day 331: We are leaving 2025 in the past and hope to leave cancer along with it. Carson got a double dose of Benadryl and is wild as ever. He pulled the ivs out, so he was able to take a bath and be free from wires for a few. Carson was literally jumping off the walls. 🤣🤣 He is in isolation and likes to stand right on the line of his door. He will try to sneak over it and see how far he can go over the line. This boy is full of energy today as his counts are on the rise! He will be having surgery next week to put a new port in, ear tubes and chemo spinal.

Day 330; Part 2: Carson had some new abnormal cells develop in his labs. None of them correspond with the type of cancer he has. (B Cell Acute lymphoblastic leukemia) The doctor said there are very few of these abnormal cells, so they are not worried, yet. They said the bone marrow is working in overdrive, so it is likely to have abnormal cells “spit out.”
Of course I am worried to death. He is on a chemo hold and what if those few cells multiply quickly, before he can resume chemotherapy. 😔
The doctors said they will be getting daily labs and will be watching them closely. Prayers and positive vibes that the cells do NOT multiply and his counts recover quickly, so he can start chemo more sooner than later.
On a positive note his Auntie brought Christmas presents to the hospital and Carson’s crew continues to show him love. He’s also been excited watching the helicopters fly in!
Thank you to everyone that has sent a card, gift or positive messsge. Everything is greatly appreciated.
