After experiencing a stroke in April 2025, 45-year-old construction business owner Jeff Roagers began his recovery journey with physical and occupational therapy at Inspira Health.

With the support of his care team and his family, Jeff has been rebuilding his strength and endurance step by step. Today, he’s back on the job, helping renovate facilities that serve individuals with autism and developmental disabilities, and back to enjoying time with his wife, Corinne, and their children.

“I’m very pleased that I have come this far in this short of a time,” Jeff said. “I didn’t know if I would ever walk again. Now my endurance is back up and I am walking without a cane. Therapy is helping me get back to the old me.”

Every milestone matters on the road to recovery and Jeff’s determination keeps him moving forward.

“This was scary for everyone,” he said. “But I now have hope for the future; that I will be able to see my kids grow up and see where they wind up in life.”

Great news for South Jersey! We're proud to share Inspira Health has been awarded a $1 million grant from the State of New Jersey to expand autism care across South Jersey. This investment will help us increase diagnostic capacity, create more sensory-friendly spaces, and shorten wait times for families seeking answers and support.

This expansion builds on Inspira’s ongoing commitment to autism care in the area, ensuring more families have access to timely, compassionate evaluations and resources close to home.

Thanks to a generous grant presented by Board members Alysha Onesti and Katie Roberts from The Superhero Project to the Deborah F. Sager Memorial Fund, The Deborah F. Sager Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Inspira Medical Center Vineland will soon have new technology to care for newborns with neurological trauma caused by low blood-oxygen levels — eliminating most transfers and keeping families together.

For Nicole and Marcus Wessells, choosing bariatric surgery at Inspira Health wasn’t just about losing weight, it was about gaining life back, together. This South Jersey couple, parents of three, decided to take the leap side by side with Dr. Christopher Bashian, Director of Inspira’s Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program at Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill.

“I tried everything, including fads and hitting the gym. Nothing worked. My P*P, Dr. Trom, suggested surgery. I was hesitant, but then I met Dr. Bashian. He was very personable and gave me a much more thorough explanation of the surgery and the process than I had gotten previously. He walked me through every little thing. Since their gastric sleeve surgery last October, Nicole has gone from 218 to 130 lbs and says she can finally chase her kids up the stairs without losing breath. Marcus has lost 120 lbs and reversed his prediabetes.
