When we say we’re out to change the way women think about fitness and health, we mean it.
At Bad Athletics, we’re tired of the damaging stereotypes and standards we see being reinforced at every turn. Celebrities pushing diet tea on their social media accounts, magazines airbrushing their models beyond recognition and reality, fitness influencers selling s*x appeal while promoting supplements and products guaranteed to give you JLo’s butt and a Kardashian waist if you do this workout or buy this cleanse. “Lose 10 lbs Quick” on magazine covers. “Body goals” or “OMG you’re soooo tiny” in the comments section.
It’s garbage. All of it.
And it’s time to fight back.
We’re saying #nomore to the idea that perfection is the standard because there’s no such thing. We’re a health and fitness brand, sure, but most importantly, we’re a women’s health and fitness brand run by women, for women, and we’re committed to not perpetuating the same ridiculous standards and stereotypes that are so pervasive and damaging otherwise. If you’re into bucking expectations, pushing limits and redefining what fitness is on an individual level, this is the brand for you.
We’re trying to do things differently, and we’re trying to do them with a little more forethought for the kinds of programs we offer, supplements we make, and women we serve.
The following 4 principles provide the framework and lay the foundation for what our brand is built on and the standards we hold ourselves to:
We find purpose in the work and value strength over aesthetics. Female bodies are more than just decoration. There is no ideal or standard women need to achieve in order to feel good about themselves. Healthy, strong bodies come in all shapes and sizes, all are welcome here. We don’t care about your pant size or the number on a scale, none of those things define who you are or what you or your body is capable of doing. What we do care about is what motivates you, how hard you train and how that training makes you feel. Your fitness abilities and goals are completely individual and separate from anyone else and we’re here to help you succeed and progress any way we can.
We empower women through self-defense, combat skills training, and real-time education. We love combat training for a whole host of reasons, the most important relating to how they build confidence and strength, sharpen reflexes, increase awareness, and help you feel prepared and capable to handle yourself in any situation. We also believe all women should know how to defend themselves against assault, abuse, and violence. 1 in 4 women have experienced severe physical violence by an intimate partner (National Intimate Partner & Sexual Violence Survey) –Center for Family Justice1 in 5 women in the United States has been r***d in their lifetime – NCADV
We believe community is vital. We are building an army of strong women, this community of women supporting other women is a vital part of our brand. We are not your competition. We’re not here for comparisons. We are your support system and your team.
We don’t support fad diets or trends when it comes to nutrition or fitness. We’re not on board with promoting any methods, practices or supplements that can’t be backed by reliable science and proven research. We don’t support doing cleanses or detoxes. We only provide programming from coaches and trainers who are certified in their field with qualified, professional experience. Our supplements are comprised of quality ingredients and are carefully formulated to meet the highest industry standards and are not intended as a replacement for reliable, consistent nutrition and a sensible diet.
With Bad Athletics, we don’t expect you to be perfect but we do expect you to show up, work hard and keep fighting. That’s what being Bad is all about.
Being Bad is breaking free from insecurities and fear. It’s bucking outside expectations and understanding that if you want something, you have to work for it. It’s about finding your inner warrior and fighting for your goals. It’s understanding that the best things in life are the things you have to work the hardest and sacrifice the most for and that they’re entirely worth it. YOU are worth it. – Coach Kaytlin
This process of becoming Bad is maybe one that requires some reconstruction where you unlearn all of the negativity and cultural conditioning that’s been pushed on you since you were a little girl, and ultimately, begin the process of rebuilding yourself into someone better, stronger, and bolder than before.
We’re here to support you 100%.
