"What you send out, comes back. What you sow, you reap. What you give, you get." — The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation

A few weeks ago, Riding with Hope was asked to help present the American flag as a horse show. When talking to the Volunteer Coordinator, Shotgun was brought up. Shotgun has been a Therapeutic Riding horse for countless years but has aways struggled with his weight. Before I knew it, 100X Equine graciously donated a 6 month supply of Osteo-max and Gut X. Today is day one, stay tuned for his 30 day transformation!

Monday Motivation: With a bit of help, the possibilities are endless!

A massive thank you to Laurie MacDonald for coming out and fitting our horses for saddles on Saturday. With the help she has given and the lessons she taught, spring riding for our individuals should be a breeze!

Monday Motivation:

Two of our Riding with Hope students had a fun trip to the 100x region reining championship at Tulsa Expo. They did not disappoint when asked to hold the American flag for the anthem. Then, we used this experience to learn about horse colors and practice showing edicate around other people horses.

Word of the day is Medicine Hat: Horses with these markings were regarded as sacred by various Native Americans. Some thought the Medicine Hat horse provided spiritual protection in war, and others believed it to be sacred and ceremonial as a buffalo horse.

We are hosting Laurie MacDonald saddle fitter extraordinaire this Saturday, September 6th, at 2pm.

Has your horse ever pinned his ear at a saddle or been "cold backed"? Maybe the saddle is the problem. If if any man has worn a too large backpack or any woman a too small bra, we know that is not fun! Maybe our horses feel the same.

Auditors welcome. Donations for auditing are asked but not expected. Students of Riding with Hope are welcome and invited to participate. I hope she doesn't tell me my fit on Stetson is wrong! 🤔🫣

Hello Riding with Hope supporters:

My name is Kendra Phillips, and I am absolutely thrilled to introduce myself as the new Equine Program Coordinator. As a certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor and Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning through PATH International, I am deeply honored to take on this role and make a profound difference in the lives of others. My objective is to provide a unique and enjoyable learning experience, harnessing the incredible benefits of horse interaction, to a segment of our community that often faces exclusion and deserves our utmost support.

Throughout my journey, I have been privileged to assume multiple roles, including instructor, barn manager, volunteer coordinator, and at-risk program instructor, at a center in North Carolina. Notably, I have had the joy of teaching advanced riding techniques, including trotting and cantering, to students and witnessing their tremendous growth. My diverse experience has equipped me with a unique skill set, and I am eager to apply it in this new capacity and create lasting impact.

When Home of Hope announced the opening for this position, I felt an overwhelming sense of purpose and knew I had to apply. Following the arrival of my daughter and relocation to a new state, I am now poised to embark on this exciting new challenge and contribute my skills and experience to the betterment of our community. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has taken the time to read my post, and I look forward to meeting you all soon and sharing in the joy and fulfillment that this journey will bring. Rest assured that great things are on the horizon, and for now, Shotgun and Jerry are making an excellent first impression.
