From our Co-Founder, President, and PTSD Survivor:

Trauma is one of the leading challenges among emergency services personnel and substantially increases the rates of suicidality, substance use, and other co-morbid conditions, both physical and mental. When emergency services personnel are injured in the line of duty physically, whether it be from a gunshot, broken leg, caught in a fire, or poked with a needle in the back of an ambulance, they are treated as soon as possible by a host of medical professionals. However, when they experience trauma, they often feel shame, guilt, and hesitancy about coming forward and asking for help, whether it be due to their own stigma, organizational stigma, or public stigma. If we want to see a decrease in suicidality, behavioral health challenges, and physical conditions among emergency services personnel, we must stop viewing the body and mind as different entities and realize they coincide in every single aspect of our being.
