The Vinton First Aid Crew has been protecting the greater Vinton, Virginia community since 1939. Our members are a combination of paid and volunteer personnel and we always welcome new members. We are available 24 hours a day to provide 911 emergency relief to our community. We are a non-profit organization that operates on the tax deductible donations from the community. These donations provide the funding for equipment, training, and medical supplies.

🍂 Fall Festival Fun🚑🎃

This weekend, your Vinton First Aid Crew was proud to provide medical standby for the annual Fall Festival right here in Vinton! Our crew members spent the day connecting with the community, offering hands-on demonstrations on wound packing and bleeding control, and standing by to ensure everyone had a safe and fun event.

Events like this remind us why we serve—community, connection, and care. ♥️

A big thank-you to In Vinton, all the organizers, vendors, and visitors who made the day a success. We’re already looking forward to next year! 🍁

As you settle down tonight for bed, remember that, on this night 24 years ago, 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning tomorrow. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift of saving lives. None of them saw past 10:00 am Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same.

As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted.

WE WILL NEVER forget. 🇺🇸

🚑 EVOC Complete! 🚑

Today our crew braved the heat and successfully completed Emergency Vehicle Operator’s Course (EVOC)! This critical training ensures our members are prepared to safely and efficiently operate emergency vehicles in all conditions, keeping our patients and community safe.

A huge thank you goes out to our community partners at Roanoke Emergency Medical Services, Inc. -REMS and Hardy Life Saving & Rescue for their support and collaboration in making this training possible. Teamwork like this is what keeps our region strong and ready to respond.

We’re proud of those who completed the course and those instructing for pushing through the summer heat and continuing to put in the hard work to better serve our community! 💪🔥

Thank you for your service.

We are heartbroken today to learn of the passing of Tommy Fuqua who was Roanoke County Fire & Rescue’s first Chief and was retired. Chief Fuqua was a friend and mentor to many from our department and other departments across the Commonwealth. Chief Fuqua was an instructor for many fire service topics in his retirement years and served as interim Chief at several departments. He will truly be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Hazel and the rest of his family. More information to follow as the week progresses.
