My fellow Americans, as we reflect on another anniversary of 9/11 we turn our focus on United flight 93. Ironic that it was a United airlines flight, because those heroes had to make a united decision and effort to stop evil. If they were arguing with each other about being a republican or democrat, liberal or conservative, they couldn’t have stopped the plane from hitting the capitol building.
24 years later, we have so much hate and division we cannot agree on enough to turn our country around, to fight the evil internally and externally that threatens our freedom. May we remember the day we mourned together, the heroes who stood up and fought together, who repaired together. Remember that our country is worth fighting for and that sometimes means making some concessions. It means what’s best for all may not be what’s best for individuals, it means we have separation of church and state because we have seen the fallout of religiously run countries - extremism, war, genocide. If you operate from the arrogant lens that you are carrying out the work of your God, it is not in service to God at all, it allows you to do horrifying things in their name that may actually directly oppose the true teaching of religion and that is what Christians mean by taking the Lord’s name in vain. It’s not saying “oh God” it’s using their name to do whatever you want, think or feel.
We are a healthcare practice, we have a heavy focus on mental health & can say it is terrible, currently. So many people are struggling and part of that is because of the climate of our divided nation and issues that are not being appropriately addressed: mass shootings, economy, healthcare. We need citizens and leaders to unite, get in the middle - try moderation vs extremism and work together to create a healing path. We have hope if Marjorie Taylor Greene can be open enough to change her mind and start making sense, it’s possible for anyone!
