For those who haven't heard the origin story.
Contraband Fitness used to be just a solution for Joshua P. Jané need to have a delicious and healthier snack in the morning, when not able to cook a full breakfast meal.
He would make them mostly for himself and keep them in the container they were made in, only needing to grab one while trying to get out of the door to head to college classes.
It wasn't until roughly 3 years later did he bring them to his workplace after graduating and offered them to a few coworkers did it spark a business idea.
"WOW this is really good, this is some good stuff.....have you tried selling it?"
"What is this? This looks like contraband...what are you selling?"
The protein bars were given as a gift, as that is the spirit of Josh, being one to give gifts. That coupled with a complex taste palette, he created the beginning stages of Contraband Fitness protein bars!
The very first sales were given to people with parchment paper and general purpose white masking tape. As those were the only things he could find that day he made a batch to sell. Carrying them in a meal prep container, as he did with gifting them, to sell just wasn't going to cut it.
From then on, people wanted to enjoy a healthier, more delicious, and tastier protein bar experience. You can see the original batches that were made. The only flavor at that time. Only to look like a bunch of Contraband when you opened the freezer! We still laugh till this day about it!
