Me- that’s not a mole. That is a male Lonestar tick. Now hire someone to pull your weeds! 😉 (her yard is full of ticks! 🤮) ...............................................................
Now what does this have to do with steak? 🥩Well – in addition to Ehrlichiosis and STARI (Southern Tick-Associated Rash Illness) – a bite from the Lonestar tick can cause alpha gal disease. The bite transmits alpha galactose- a sugar found in red meat. This can trigger an immune response that later causes an allergic reaction after eating red meat. Weird right? The immune system is just so fascinating. ....................................................................
So if you are in tick infested areas, be sure to wear appropriate clothing and tick repellent!! Only the female has the “lone star” marking on its back. The male is more plain...hmmmm. Just like humans. 😉😉. Just kidding!! (Not really. 👄 👠 💄💅🏼)

☀️ sun exposed versus non sun exposed surface.
So much of our cumulative sun damage occurs from day to day life. Every time we drive without sleeves, we are propping our hands and forearms up in the sun rays. For some, this adds up to hours a week. And our skin can’t tell the difference from the beach 🏖 or car ride. .......................................................
Overtime this leads to sunspots, easy bruising, texture change and skin cancers/precancers. ..........................
So don’t forget your sun protection for these chronically exposed parts. This includes sunscreen and or sun protective clothing.

PRE-COVID clinic lip plump. Seems like it’s been a long while since we were unmasked 😷. But life will eventually return to (new?) normal. .........................................................................

This past weekend kicked off the season for many of us. And I have seen a lot of SUNBURNS in clinic this morning.

Today’s sunburn 🥵 creates tomorrow’s (or next year, or the next... you get my point!) wrinkle, age spots and skin cancer!

Protect yourself. Everyday!! SPF 30 or higher and reapply each hour when in the sun.
