Yes.

✍️ No one wakes up hoping to suffer. No one chooses pain if they can see another way.

We and every sentient being—each and all—are always searching for the same thing: happiness. No one wakes hoping to suffer. No one chooses pain if they can see another way. We are all reaching for light, even when we stumble in the dark.

On this path of seeking happiness, people make choices—some wise, some less so, some that nourish, some that harm. But here is what we can hold with mindful understanding: at the moment each choice was made, it was the best that person could do with the clarity they had, the pain they were carrying, the understanding available to them then.

On the path of living, mistakes are inevitable. Every one of us has made them. We have hurt others without meaning to. We have chosen poorly while trying our best. We have caused harm while desperately searching for our own relief, our own peace.

Understanding this—truly understanding that we are all imperfect souls doing our best to find happiness and avoid suffering—opens our hearts to genuine sympathy for everyone. Not pity, but deep, tender compassion. We can wish, with hope and love, that all beings might find their way to the path of peace, wisdom, understanding, and wholesome choices, so we can walk together in harmony instead of causing each other pain.

Our loving-kindness doesn't stop at the edges of our own lives or our families. It extends outward like light from a candle—reaching every being on this same path, every heart seeking happiness, every soul longing for peace, every person trying to navigate this difficult, beautiful, confusing life as best they know how.

We are all connected in this longing. We are all walking the same fundamental journey—from suffering toward peace, from confusion toward understanding, from isolation toward connection. And when we remember this, when we hold it gently in our hearts, compassion flows naturally toward everyone—those who are easy to love and those who challenge us, those close by and those we'll never meet.

May all beings find the happiness they seek. May all beings discover the peace that has been waiting patiently within them. May we all walk this path together with understanding, patience, and boundless loving-kindness for every struggling heart.

May you and all beings be well, happy, and at peace.
