Virginia Beach Mayor's Committee for Persons with Disabilities Raise awareness of city government and the Virginia Beach community at-large of the needs of persons

On behalf of all people with disabilities, and in an advisory capacity to the Mayor, our mission is to raise the awareness of the Mayor, City Council, City Administration and the community at-large of the needs of persons with disabilities. We assist in formulating solutions to meet those needs, and provide advice on issues involving compliance with state and national legislation addressing their needs.

PEATC is delighted to announce that the U.S. Department of Education has again awarded us the Parent Training and Information (PTI) Center grant. Starting October 1, 2025, this five-year grant allows us to proudly continue our 47-year legacy as Virginia’s federally designated PTI.

PEATC remains committed to empowering families, individuals with disabilities, and the professionals who support them to navigate the special education and disability services systems through training, resources, and free and confidential individualized support.

We’re honored by this opportunity and energized to keep working alongside Virginia’s families, professionals, and communities to build brighter futures.
