Pelvic floor problems affect men too! The muscles are similar to women’s but are arranged differently with slightly different functions. Dr. Sammy is specially trained to help men with pelvic floor dysfunction.

So if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, you may benefit from seeing a pelvic floor PT to learn the importance of breathing and bracing mechanics and to rule out any underlying musculoskeletal conditions.

We are so excited to welcome .dpt to the Onward Virginia Beach team!!

Casey specializes in orthopedics and is dry needling certified. Her love for working with active individuals comes from her experience as a lifelong swimmer. When she’s not working, you’ll likely find her at spin, pilates, or HIIT classes all around Virginia Beach.

We can’t wait to see the impact she makes!

Are you eating enough? 🍎

It’s simple. We are what we eat. If you are not fueling appropriately then you are not recovering adequately.

A 30 year old 5’4” female who weighs 160 pounds will require at least 128 grams of protein and around 2400 calories per day.

A 30 year old 5’10” male who weighs 180 pounds will require at least 145 grams of protein and around 3000 calories per day.

If you are not meeting the minimum dietary requirements you are putting yourself at risk for:
- Unexplained fatigue or low energy
- Recurrent or persistent injuries (including bone and soft tissue injuries)
- Recurrent or persistent illness
- Decreased training adaptation
- Stagnation or decline in performance
- Low libido (in males and females)
- Increased irritability, poor concentration, depression

At Onward we are all about maximizing how you perform as well as how you feel. And while we believe exercise is one of the most important things you do for your body, if you are not fueling appropriately it means next to nothing.
