People always ask what I do for my own health…

Honestly? I keep it simple.

This morning it’s my smoothie with blueberries, pineapple, and kiwi. Pineapple contains bromelain, which helps support inflammation and digestion—something I’m always mindful of, especially when working with joints and mobility every day. Don't throw away the core, use it in your smoothie, it's packed with greatness! I even keep the epicarp (the outer tough skin) and make tea with it. Throw in a couple cloves, cinnamon stick and honey. It's quite delicious. Message me for the recipes.

It’s not about being perfect. It’s about being consistent.

Little things add up. 💚

You can start at any age, but the key is to start! Let's go. I hazmat help you get started.

You’re never too old to start building muscle.

Muscle acts as a metabolic reservoir, storing and utilizing glucose efficiently, preventing insulin resistance, and protecting against chronic disease. The study found that muscle mass—not BMI—was the strongest predictor of survival, independent of fat mass, cardiovascular risk factors, and metabolic markers.

I used to think lifting weights was just for bodybuilders—I didn’t love the gym and thought cardio was enough. But when I learned that strength training activates longevity pathways like mTOR and AMPK, protects mitochondria, and triggers the release of myokines—hormone-like compounds that reduce inflammation and enhance brain function—I realized it wasn’t just about looking fit. It was about living longer, stronger, and healthier!

You don’t need a gym or fancy equipment. Strength training—whether it’s bodyweight exercises, resistance bands, or lifting weights—builds muscle, protects your metabolic health, and safeguards your future.

At the end of the day, it’s not just about living longer it’s about living better.

Hi everyone! I wanted to take a moment to properly introduce myself 💚

My name is Denise Green, owner of GreenFitNut LLC.

For over 20 years, I’ve been in the fitness and wellness space—personally and professionally. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to complete marathons, triathlons, cycling events, and teach academic physical education at the college level.

Today, my passion has truly found its home working with seniors—helping improve balance, mobility, posture, and overall confidence in everyday movement.

I’ve worked in assisted living, independent living, rehab facilities, and community settings, where I’ve seen firsthand how powerful simple, guided movement can be—not just physically, but emotionally and socially too.

What I offer isn’t just exercise—it’s connection, confidence, and care.

If you or someone you know (facility, church group, or individual) could benefit from safe, effective, and uplifting movement sessions, I would love to connect.

Thank you for being here and supporting my journey 💚

One of the first things I talk about, what kinds of produce are you buying and should it be organic?
If you don't know, here's the list. Anything on the dirty 12, should be organic due to the amount of pesticides. Anything on the clean 15, you can buy it conventional (non organic).

March has been exciting already!

I’ve been connecting with local facilities and sharing how functional movement, balance training, and nutrition guidance can truly improve quality of life for seniors.

To celebrate and help more communities get started, I’m offering a March Madness Special – 25% off new classes booked this month.

I love seeing residents gain confidence in their movement again. It’s truly why I do what I do.

If your community, gym, church, or facility would like to try a class, send me a message. I even offer a complimentary intro class.

Let’s help more people move safely and confidently. 💚

This is SO true. I'm not on any medications, and will try my best to keep it that way. I'm a proud age of 55. I look and feel young by the choices I make every.single.day. With the foods I eat; nothing processed, no ultra processed nor sugars. Do I fall off the wagon from time to time, hell yeah. I love some good chocolates-but that doesn't mean I eat it daily or weekly. Eating foods with no labels is the way to go. Reach out for help, I would love to get you on a better path of a healthier you.

Who you want to be and how you want to feel at 80 starts right now...

The choices you make today: what you eat, how you move, how you manage stress, determine the health of your brain, muscles, metabolism, and immune system decades from now.

Studies show that up to 90% of aging-related chronic diseases are driven by lifestyle. Conditions like heart disease, type 2 diabetes, dementia, and frailty are often preventable.

Your body is incredibly adaptive... With the right inputs, you can slow biological aging, reverse disease, and even regenerate function.

Aging is inevitable. But HOW you age is largely a choice… Start today.

What if one of the most powerful brain health interventions isn’t a supplement, a drug, or a biohack, but a 30-minute walk?

A randomized clinical trial in the Journal of Sport and Health Science assigned adults ages 26 to 58 to follow an aerobic exercise program targeting 150 minutes per week for 12 months. On MRI, their brains shifted to look about 0.95 years “younger” than the control group on a brain-age algorithm.

That might not sound dramatic, but brain aging is cumulative, and small shifts add up.

What I love about this study is the age range. These benefits showed up in early and midlife, not just later decades.

Exercise likely supports brain health through multiple pathways, including improved cerebral blood flow and neuroplasticity, although the exact mechanisms behind the brain-age shift are still being worked out.

Thirty minutes, five days a week. Move at a pace where you notice your breathing change.

Your future cognitive health is being shaped by what you do today. 🧠
