Shine Yoga Mission: meet people where they are & move with them to better wellbeing through movement and breath

At Shine Yoga, we promote peace and wellbeing by preparing the body with the practice of asanas, healing the body with the power of our own energy, quieting the mental clutter with breathing and meditation, and carrying our calm confidence off the mat into our daily lives.

There’s something really special about a teacher’s very first class.
The nerves. The heart. The courage it takes to step to the front of the room and share something meaningful. And the passion it requires! ✨

Over the next three weeks, our Yoga Teacher Training graduates will be leading their practicum classes at Shine Yoga and we’d love for you to come support them.

These classes are open to the community and offered on a pay-what-you-can basis because this experience is about more than yoga poses. It’s about growth, confidence, community, and learning to trust your voice. They've worked hard and they all have special gifts to offer.

Whether you’re a longtime student, brand new to yoga, or simply curious, your presence matters more than you know.

Come breathe with them, encourage them with your presence and participation.

This past week felt full of quiet yeses.

On Friday, I attended a women’s business brunch where we were asked to write down a yes-or-no question. The kind of question that asks you to get honest with yourself.

Later, I pulled a card that said:

“YES — and it’s about to get even better.”

And honestly… it felt less like prediction and more like confirmation. Not confirmation like life suddenly gets easy overnight. But confirmation that growth is already happening beneath the surface.

This birthday and New Moon in Ta**us have felt unexpectedly meaningful for me, and maybe it’s the season I’m in. Maybe it’s finally understanding that the strongest growth is usually slow, rooted, intentional, and sustainable.

Lately I’ve been feeling called to expand my coaching work in a deeper way. To create more spaces for honest conversation, nervous system healing, movement, connection, communication, and becoming more fully yourself.

Not bigger JUST to be bigger. And besides, bigger isn’t necessarily better! More aligned. More impactful. More authentically me.

And one thing I’m especially grateful for right now is being in rooms with women who challenge each other to think bigger while still staying grounded and genuinely supportive and straight up human. Megan has such a gift for creating that kind of space and connection.

Anyway… if you’ve been feeling a quiet inner yes lately too, I hope you listen to it. If you need a place to reconnect with yourself for a minute or to reconnect with others… come take a class. Come breathe and move and laugh and play and grow and heal with us. ✨

When I first imagined Shine Yoga, I didn’t just picture a room where people stretched.

I pictured a place where families could breathe again.

A place where overwhelmed women could come home to themselves for a little while… so they could return home with a fuller heart, a calmer nervous system, and a little more capacity to love the people around them well.

Because the truth is, so many women are carrying everyone.
The schedules and the emotions.
The unseen and occasionally unappreciated labor.
The responsibility to hold it all together.

And somewhere along the way, they stop filling their own cup.

This season feels especially tender to me.

Mother’s Day just passed.
My birthday is tomorrow.
My daughter is about to graduate high school… and yoga teacher training.

Watching her become part of this journey beside me has been one of the greatest honors of my life. There’s something deeply emotional about witnessing your child step into adulthood while also standing beside you in something that has helped shape your own healing and purpose.

It's my hope that’s what this Ta**us season and new moon is inviting us all into:
Slow down enough to notice what truly matters.
Create and live in safety and steadiness.
Create connection, not perfection or performance.
Just presence. This moment is all their is.

So today, on International Family Day, I’m feeling grateful for this community and for every person who has walked through our doors looking for peace, healing, connection, strength, or simply a place to exhale.

Sometimes taking care of yourself really is an act of caring for your family too. I hope you'll consider yoga on the road to love on you! 🤍

After YTT tonight, I stood outside for a minute longer than usual.

The studio was glowing. The night air was soft. Everything felt quiet and full at the same time.

There’s a strange kind of nostalgia that happens when you know something important is ending soon.

Just over a month left with this teacher training group.
And I already know this season will stay with me.

Maybe Mother’s Day came and went and you forgot to do something special?
Maybe not for her... but for yourself.

I talk to so many people who tell me they want to get back on their mat... when things calm down and work slows down... when the kids need less time and attention... when life isn't "life-ing" so fast and it feels less full.

But what if yoga isn’t another thing to accomplish?
What if yoga is the thing that helps you breathe through the life you already have?

No one here at Shine is interested in perfection. We are interested in helping people reconnect with themselves in real, sustainable ways. Sometimes that looks like a strong flow and sometimes it’s lying on a mat breathing for an hour, so your nervous system can finally feel safe enough to exhale.

It's not an entire life overhaul. It's one small moment that belongs to you again.

Let that start this week.
No pressure. No perfect attendance award.
Just a space to come back to yourself.

We’re holding that space for those already in process.

There are still a few spots left for Friday’s Intro to Systemic Imprinting—and this is where the foundation of the work begins.

If something in you has been curious about this… don’t overthink it.

These last spots will go.

“The past does not equal the future.”

It makes sense, sounds hopeful and simple and true, but it may not always feel that way.

Because if you’ve ever found yourself reacting the same way, ending up in the same patterns and reactions and carrying emotions you can’t fully explain, it can 100% start to feel like the past IS the future.

You aren't broken. Some of what you carry lives deeper than conscious choice. This doesn't mean it's okay not to take responsibility for choices and actions you take. It just means sometimes the patterns we hold in our bodies and our nervous systems were inherited.

And the moment you begin to acknowledge and see that clearly, something starts to shift.

You’re not broken OR stuck. Maybe you ARE just ready for a different level of awareness.

If this is resonating with you, I’d love to have you in the room.

You can reserve your space on the website—and if someone came to mind while reading this, invite them too.

We’re so excited to welcome Courtney Mabry!

Courtney will be leading a special class tomorrow (Tuesday, April 21 at 6:00pm). All proceeds will support Samaritan House, a local organization providing safe housing and holistic support for individuals and families in crisis.

This is a beautiful opportunity to meet Courtney, experience her teaching, and come together as a community to support something bigger than ourselves.

If you’ve been thinking about trying a class with her, this is the perfect time. Show up, move, connect—and know your presence is making a real impact.

Join us tomorrow at 6pm - and invite a friend - and help us give her a warm welcome.

What if what you’ve been carrying… didn’t actually start with you?

I see this a lot. Patterns and reactions that don’t fully make sense… but they’re there in the body anyway. And the mind trails the body.

And sometimes it’s not just “your stuff.”
It’s learned. It’s inherited. It’s been passed down without anyone ever naming it.

This weekend is about starting to see that more clearly and gently shifting it.

Friday you’ll learn about how trauma and patterns are held in the body (Intro to Systemic Imprinting, CEUs available)

Saturday is Family Constellations, which is a really powerful, experiential way to work with those deeper patterns

This isn’t surface-level work.
It’s the kind that can actually create movement where things have felt stuck.

If this is landing for you even a little, trust that.
