This one is for my followers with , though those with & as well as chronic inflammation from a variety of conditions can benefit as well.

Certain foods contain anti-inflammatory properties and by increasing them in your diet you may see reduced inflammation overall. This is especially important for my followers with endometriosis as you may be frequently advised to cut many many foods out of your diet to avoid inflammation, however, it may be more beneficial as well as easier for you to incorporate more anti-inflammatory foods rather than trying to cut out all of the inflammation causing foods.

This is especially important to ensure that you’re still getting a well-rounded diet and not risking nutrient deficiency or malnourishment with extremely restrictive diet trends. In the past, It was thought that salt intake = high blood pressure, but in recent years science has evolved and that information is now outdated.

In one study- researchers advised women with preeclampsia signs to measure out 4 teaspoonfuls of salt each morning and ensure they were finished by nightfall. Upon doing so the majority of these women experienced spontaneous recovery from preeclampsia.

Researchers concluded that extra salt in a pregnant woman’s diet appeared to be essential for the health of a woman, her fetus, and placental development.

This ginger ale recipe is sooooo good! I tried It over the weekend when I was having my own nausea / stomach ache and It made me feel so much better~

Ginger is a prokinetic, meaning It speeds up the movement of food which aids in easing nausea, bloating, and constipation~

Unfortunately, this is a frequently asked question that I get from many new clients at their first session-

Social media is constantly pushing ads in our faces of lean, muscular personal trainers spewing out: “All you need to do is go into calorie deficit. That’s It.”

Of course the marketing works- we see a thin muscular person saying hey count calories, and obviously that’s what they’re doing, and so it will work for us too- but it doesn’t. Because the reality is that person is not counting their calories, they’re typically just selling a brand.

Weight Watchers is a prime example of calorie deficit not working- maybe you did lose weight on weight watchers however the weight is seldom kept off permanently. And honestly, Weight Watchers doesn’t want their clients to permanently keep weight off because if their clients only did their program one time, lost the weight, and then never came back, they’d go out of business. Their business thrives off the fact that their clients have to keep coming back for more.

This is why when your ultimate goal is to finally get rid of weight and improve your nutritional health, your best bet is working with a dietitian. As your personal dietitian, I’ll never have you count calories, I’ll never have you obsess over numbers or worry about math, instead we’ll work on learning how to eat intuitively, listen to your bodies cues, and fuel your body with nutritious & satiating foods to keep you feeling fuller longer.

Let’s take a moment to focus on some client wins this week~

I am SO big on celebrating all of my clients wins, big and small, as every step is another step closer to reaching goals and improving overall health.

I am SO proud of these two clients this week- my first client has been a bit hesitant to incorporate some strength training into her routine but this week not only bought resistance bands and tried out a resistance training workout for her legs, but also tried out a tricep workout as well! 👏🏻

My second client in the spotlight today has been working SO hard to spice up her favorite meal to ensure It contains adequate protein, fat, and fiber as well as being exciting, nutritious, quick, and easy for her late night classes after work~

I am SO proud of both of these clients for the changes they’ve made, the small steps they’ve taken that are already making such big improvements in their health, and for their commitment and dedication ❤️

Good Morning ☀️

Many of my clients report feeling guilty when they crave a snack in the middle of the day- but if you’re body is telling you it needs something to keep It going, then step 1 of intuitive eating is listening to your body and giving It what It needs!

The key here is to avoid processed packaged snacks as much as possible and instead focus on whole food options to ensure that the snack you’re having is nourishing your body so that craving is filled and you feel satisfied.

Wishing all of my followers that are mamas the happiest Mother’s Day~ regardless of whether you’re just newly 5 weeks pregnant, experienced a pregnancy loss, or are 30 years postpartum, I truly hope you all had an amazing day ❤️ being a mom is a major sacrifice, and not a day goes by where our strength and endurance isn’t tested- just remember, you’re doing great ☺️

If artificial sweeteners are typically zero calorie, why avoid them?

Artificial sweeteners can be damaging to the good bacteria in your gut and destroy your gut microbiome; they can also rewire your tastebuds to prefer sweet flavors and therefore crave sweet foods. But is that all?

Nope! There’s even more 💀

Sucralose, in particular, has been shown to depress thyroid function and overall thyroid health. In a pregnant woman, this can affect fetal brain development.

One study showed that children of women who consumed artificial sweeteners while pregnant on a daily basis had a 1.6x higher chance of macrosomia at birth and 1.9x higher chance of obesity at age 7.

It was long believed that since artificial sweeteners have zero calories and zero sugar they would help with weight loss, but research has proven that these sweeteners are actually more likely linked to weight gain- most likely due to the decreased thyroid function, destroyed gut health, and intense sweet cravings.

As hard as It may be initially, avoiding artificial sweeteners and getting used to tasting things less sweet is a better alternative to the side effects above.

When we work together, we’ll discuss safer alternatives, and work on rebuilding your gut microbiome and balancing out your hormones.
