Happy ! To kick off Autism Acceptance Month this year we wanted to share FACT's 30th Anniversary Report:https://fact4autism.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/FACT-30th-Anniversary-Report.pdf !

It is hard to believe it has been 30 years since FACT first started providing social and recreational programming for our awesome autistic individuals in Hampton Roads! What started with 5 autistic kids for one week of summer camp in 1996 has grown exponentially to serve 400+ separate autistic individuals all year round at a variety of social, recreational, and now vocational programs that service both kids and adults across the autism spectrum!

Check out the Report for more stories & statistics about FACT's history, the programs we offer, and the generous community members who make it possible through their support!

A picture is worth 1,000 words, and our friend Donovan wants to help you tell your story!

Donovan is an intern in FACT’s HERO (Helping Employees Reach Outcomes) Internship for autistic adults. During his time at FACT, Donovan has expressed a passion for photography! During his internship, Donovan has been refining his craft by being the photographer at multiple FACT events, connecting with a professional photographer who has been volunteering her time to mentor him (shout out to our friend Amanda at Stellar Exposures), and has even started booking paying photography jobs outside of FACT (he will be doing headshots tomorrow at the CAYA Neuroinclusive Job Fair & Interview Event )!

Check out some of Donovan’s wonderful photos and if you are looking to hire a photographer, be sure to reach out to him at donovan.jr.saunders@gmail.com!

Photo 1: Donovan beautifully captured his friends’ excitement and personalities for FACT’s Valentines Dance in his photo booth where he took photos for more than 60 participants!

Photo 2: Meet Donovan himself (on the far left), whose presence was requested in a photo with another FACT Friend dressed up as a Ghostbuster during FACT’s Trunk or Treat event. This photo was taken by FACT’s CEO, clearly showing the importance of having a skilled photographer as it is not nearly to the quality of Donovan’s work!

Photo 3: Donovan doesn’t just do staged photos but can capture a moment like this one of his buddy and coworker in the HERO Internship, Langston, singing his heart out at the Whiteout Homecoming Dance!

Photo 4: Donovan recently did new headshots of FACT staff. In this photo, Donovan helped provide direction and laughter during his shoot with Ms. Edna and captured this wonderful fun portrait!

Photo 5: Meet FACT’s Employment Specialist, Sarah, and her daughter! Sarah has been crucial in setting up opportunities, like during Christmas when she set up free family holiday photo sessions, for Donovan to practice his craft! This photo, when compared to the next one, also shows how Donovan has progressed during his time in his craft and the improvements to quality that can be made with training with advanced equipment and guidance from a professional photographer.

Photo 6: This is Donovan’s more recent work after getting new equipment and learning more about lighting from his mentor, Amanda at Stellar Exposures. He got this wonderful group photo of our FACT Gives Back participants!

Photo 7: Donovan and his mentor Amanda from Stellar Exposures celebrating after a successful shoot with FACT Gives Back.

Photo 8: This is Donovan’s business card for his photography business that his father and Sarah helped him create! Give him a call if you ever need someone to be your photographer!
