Do New Years resolutions work?

Well, that depends, on if you believe they do. Some people are quite empowered by the "blank slate" --- thinking similar to what is written below (paraphrased from Anne of Green Gables). Others find arbitrary dates meaningless.

Regardless of if which way you fall, if it helps you then go for it! And if you forget or make a mistake, don't wait for another blank slate. You are already on your way, just keep going. The worst that can happen is your only a little better off instead of a lot!

"I want to be you when I grow up" -- another therapist jokingly said this to me this year at a training...

Coaching and helping new therapists develop their skills and earn their licenses is one of my favorite things. Partly because the process of watching someone find their path is so joyful; but mostly because I hate turning away calls every day from people looking for therapists. We need more mental health practioners in Virginia!

I will be taking 2 new supervisees in January for LCSW and looking to begin a supervision group on Fridays during February.

Ever have trouble starting a new paper, project, item on your to do list, chore???

We have this idea of how we start, how it should look...and it just gets overwhelming. "The curse of the blank page" takes many forms. But getting away from our idea of how things "should" be and finding the easiest place to begin is okay. It could be in the middle, your favorite part or while dancing. Set a timer and just do 15 minutes....

The point is to find someway to get a little momentum going and let that carry you.
