Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck) is a procedure that is used to recreate the flatter, firmer abdominal contour usually present in youth. This is done through the removal of excessive fat and skin as well as tightening of the abdominal muscles. Toneless, sagging abdominal skin and excessive fat with lax muscles can be caused by pregnancy or after substantial weight loss. The traditional tummy tuck includes removal of the lower abdominal skin from the level of the belly button (umbilicus) down to a level just above the p***c area. Liposuction is also applied as an additional procedure to produce the overall desired effect. As every patient is treated as an individual, we offer a customizable approach to the tummy tuck. Depending on the concerns and the anatomy of the patient, modifications of the traditional abdominoplasty procedure such as a mini- abdominoplasty, skin-only abdominoplasty or an extended abdominoplasty may be appropriate. Should your needs be best served by one of these modifications, your options will be thoroughly explained at the time of your consult.
