Wednesday Warrior - Realizing Success

Patsy Hobbs, a proud Virginia native, has been a valuable part of Support Services of Virginia since October 2013. Over the years, she has demonstrated remarkable dedication to her own professional growth—beginning her journey as a Direct Support Professional and steadily advancing to her current role as Head of Services.

Patsy’s leadership is marked by her ability to mentor others with patience, encouragement, and thoughtful guidance. She not only answers questions but also empowers those around her to think critically and grow in their own roles. She thrives on collaboration, especially when working alongside her team supervisors to tackle challenges and create innovative solutions.

No matter where you find Patsy—collaborating in the office, bringing people together through fun and meaningful SSVA celebrations, or recharging with trips to the mountains—she approaches each moment with genuine care and purpose. She pours her heart into making sure people feel valued, supported, and included.

Patsy’s energy and dedication create an environment where both the people we serve and her colleagues can thrive, proving that professional success is most powerful when it’s built on compassion and connection.

Thank you Pasty, you inspire us! 💙💛

NADSP is alarmed by recent federal statements suggesting that acetaminophen (Tylenol) causes autism. Such claims are not supported by scientific consensus and risk misleading families while stigmatizing individuals with autism. If the Administration truly wants to help, it should restore Medicaid, invest in evidence-based research on autism, and strengthen the direct support workforce.

Monday Motivation -

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate the vibrant cultures, rich histories, and powerful contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities across the nation and within our own SSVA family.

At SSVA, we believe that success is realized when we lift each other up. The stories of resilience, creativity, and leadership from Hispanic heritage remind us that every voice matters and every journey adds strength to our shared mission.

Let’s honor this month by embracing diversity, amplifying voices, and continuing to build a world that is positive, peaceful, and inclusive for all.

Wednesday Warriors - Every Direct Support Professional

Last week, we recognized our Direct Support Professionals—and while one week is never enough, we want to say it again, louder and prouder: you are extraordinary.
You are the steady hands and open hearts behind every moment of growth, every breakthrough, and every smile. You show up with compassion, patience, and purpose—day after day, often without fanfare, always with love.

💙 You are the reason SSVA’s mission comes to life: Realizing success by helping others realize theirs.

Whether you're supporting someone through a tough day, celebrating a small victory, or simply being present—your work is the foundation of a peaceful world for all. You embody dignity, respect, and the belief that every person deserves to live a life of meaning.

✨ “The work you do may not always be visible, but its impact is immeasurable.”
So today, and every day, we honor you.

Thank you for being warriors of kindness, champions of inclusion, and the heart of SSVA.

As we step into a new week, let’s remember: success isn’t just about what we achieve—it’s about how we help others rise. At SSVA, we realize success by helping others realize theirs, and every act of kindness, support, and compassion moves us closer to a peaceful world for all.

This September, we honor Self-Improvement Month—a time to reflect, grow, and recommit to our personal and collective goals. Whether you're practicing mindfulness, deepening your meditation, or simply showing up with intention, your efforts matter.

Wednesday Warrior - Realizing Success

Since 2006, Brenda Logwood has been a cornerstone of the sponsor residential program in Lynchburg—quietly extraordinary and consistently radiant. As a sponsor to her son Terry, Brenda has shown unwavering dedication, putting her own needs on the back burner to ensure Terry’s life is filled with support, love, and laughter. And speaking of laughter, Terry is an absolute delight to be around—clearly, the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.

Brenda’s home isn’t just a residence—it’s a haven. Whether you're stopping by for a QA visit or a work-related meeting, it feels less like business and more like catching up with a dear friend. She greets you with warmth, makes you feel instantly at home, and—if you're lucky—offers you one of her beautifully hand-painted rocks. These aren’t just rocks; they’re miniature masterpieces. Brenda’s talent shines through each brushstroke, and she even takes custom requests (yes, she made sure each of my grandkids got their own special rock—she makes you feel special.

Her generosity and creativity are matched only by her kindness. Brenda brings joy, love, and a sense of belonging to everyone she meets. She also cares for her other son with the same selfless devotion, never missing a beat.

Sponsors often work quietly in the background, but their impact is anything but silent. Without people like Brenda, the lives of those we serve would look very different. So, while it may not be said nearly enough—thank you, Brenda. Thank you for your heart, your humor, your hospitality, and your unwavering commitment to Terry and to this community. He’s lucky to have you as his mom, and the rest of us are even luckier to call you a friend. 💙💛

Wednesday Warriors - Realizing Success

This week, we are thrilled to shine a well-deserved spotlight on two incredible Site Coordinators who exemplify teamwork, compassion, and unwavering dedication — Jerquale Bryant and Lisha Oliver.

In the absence of the Day Program Coordinator, Jerquale and Lisha have stepped up in a big way, working side by side to lead our Hampton Roads Day Program Services with excellence. Each day, they consistently go above and beyond to ensure the individuals we support receive compassionate, hands-on care. Their efforts are marked by grace, empathy, and an unwavering commitment to quality service.

Their partnership is the perfect balance of skill and heart:
• Jerquale brings sharp attention to detail, ensuring nothing is overlooked while advocating fiercely for the health and well-being of everyone she serves.
• Lisha maintains a calm, cool, and collected presence—providing steady leadership, especially during challenging situations and times of crisis.

Together, they are an unstoppable team. They not only uplift the individuals in their care but also inspire their fellow teammates through their positivity, reliability, and team-first mindset. Jerquale and Lisha embody what it truly means to be part of a TEAM.

They’ve led the Day Program with pride, professionalism, and a deep sense of purpose, bringing both strength and compassion to the SSVA community.

A little more about our Warriors:
• Jerquale enjoys traveling and spending quality time with her siblings.
• Lisha loves being a proud “Dance Mom” to her daughter Princess, who performs with the Shark City Dance Team, and cherishes her time as a grandma.

Thank you, Jerquale and Lisha, for your outstanding contributions. You are true Wednesday Warriors, and we are so proud to have you on our team.

Your compassion changes lives. 💙💙

Monday Motivation -

Today, we honor the dedication, resilience, and heart of every individual who works to make the world a better place. Labor Day is more than a long weekend—it's a celebration of the power of purpose-driven work.

At SSVA, we believe that success is not just personal—it's shared. Every act of service, every moment of care, and every step forward helps someone else rise. And in doing so, we rise together.

Wednesday Warrior - Realizing Success

Today, we’re taking a moment to shine the spotlight on Catherine “Caty” Steffy and the incredible work she does each day! Caty brings kindness, patience, and dedication to everything she does, always going the extra mile to ensure those she supports feel valued and cared for.

Her ability to adapt, lead with empathy, and bring people together makes her an inspiration to everyone around her. She listens with genuine interest, shares her knowledge generously, and creates an environment where respect and teamwork thrive.

Caty’s impact goes far beyond her role — she brings joy and meaning to the lives of the people she supports, helping them reach their goals and live life to the fullest. Outside of work, she enjoys tending to her garden, taking on new landscaping projects, and spending time with her dogs. Caty, we appreciate you and all that you bring to our team. Your heart and dedication truly make a difference every single day! 💙💛
