Many times, people with lymphedema are misdiagnosed which can, unfortunately, lead to serious problems. That’s why it’s important to recognize the signs and begin treatment early on to help prevent progression. Some examples are tight rings, shoes, or clothes, marks at top of socks on the skin, a sense of heaviness in legs worsening as the day goes on, especially if seated or on feet for many hours, or if swelling increases with long car rides or airplane travel.
