This week is a vibrant fusion of two impactful masterclasses! One focuses on school safety, a crucial topic that protects our future. The other is a senior executive leadership summit, where bold ideas and strategies come to life. I’ll switch hats, adapting to each environment, but my servant heart will guide me through both. It’s all about making connections and fostering change! After this whirlwind of learning and inspiration, I’ll savor some much-needed stillness and silence to reflect. Here’s to a week full of growth and purpose!

🌟 Have you ever felt the warmth of a cherished memory? 💖

As I reflect on my mom’s incredible storytelling around the dinner table, bonfire, or on a walk - I can’t help but feel a mix of joy and longing. Her tales were like a dance of emotions—one moment we’d be laughing until we cried, and the next, we’d be deep in thought about the challenges she faced. She had a unique way of connecting the past to the present, reminding us of the strength in our roots. 🌱 Her spirit was fierce, and when necessary, she wasn’t afraid to in her words “raise sand!” Her lessons will forever echo in my heart.

🌟 “The light in this world will always overpower darkness.” 🌟

This week felt a bit dim for me. Yet, I am deeply grateful for the lighthouses from the Tennessee Head Start Association and the prayer warriors of the Men of Faith Coalition of California. 🙏 Thank you for “covering” my team with your support. At the Prayer Breakfast, I shared a thought that struck a chord: it’s not about my side, your side, or our side—it’s about returning to God’s side. 🌍 Your encouragement empowered me to deliver a message that matters. Together, let’s continue to shine our light!

🌈 Life has a mysterious way of weaving our stories together, even in the hardest moments. When my mother passed away, the timing felt like a divine sign. 💖 My wife, my mom’s favorite daughter-in-law, always held a special place in her heart. From day one, my mom stepped into the role of a mother for my wife, who never got to know her biological mother. Tragically, my wife’s mother died when she was born, leaving a void that my mom lovingly filled along with her step-mother. On my mother-in-law’s birthday, my mom left this world, a poignant reminder of their connection. 🌹 Each day, I carry my mom with me, her love guiding me forward. In the tapestry of life, love knows no bounds, and even in loss, we find threads of hope and connection.

🌴✨ Have you ever experienced a vacation that felt like a warm embrace? For my mom, it wasn’t just the stunning views or delicious food—it was the love and connection we shared with those around us. 💕 From housekeepers joining our dance parties to sharing traditional Jamaican dishes, every moment was woven with joy and laughter.

Our days were filled with board games, Bible study, the gym, and arcade fun, but the real magic was in our uninterrupted time together. Those memories will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

🚤 My mom dedicated her life to hard work, always putting her family first. In her retirement, we were truly blessed to share family vacations together. Each morning, she would rise early, filled with joy, preparing warm breakfasts that brought us together. She loved surprising us with thoughtful lunches, adding a special touch to our days. She loved for me to take the boat out. Bible study was woven into our gatherings, nurturing our spirits and strengthening our bonds. It was heartwarming to see her embrace these moments, carefree and full of love. Those simple joys remind me of the beauty of family and the warmth of shared memories. ❤️

Wow! What an incredible day! 🎉 Today’s masterclass was truly one for the books! .headstart The Tennessee Head Start Association welcomed me with so much love, just like they did for my mom over 40 years ago. ❤️ Their energy was absolutely astounding, and the warmth in the room was simply ahmazing! 🌈 While I shared insights on self-care and trauma, it was the beautiful hugs from the Head Start participants that reminded me of the power of connection. 🤗 I’m filled with gratitude for this community. I love Head Start and everything it stands for! Let’s keep spreading that love! 💖

🙏I’m here, .headstart standing at a crossroads of grief and gratitude. My mother just died on Sunday. I’m fighting back tears, overwhelmed by the legacy of love and impact she left behind. This photo 👆captures a beautiful moment with my mom at the National Head Start event after my keynote session, a place that holds so many memories. Head Start was more than a program for us; it was a lifeline. I’m deeply grateful that my mother took a chance on it, and in return, it embraced her with open arms. As a policy council chairperson, she dedicated herself to sharing knowledge, transforming our home and community with her insights. Today, even though my heart aches, I chose to honor her by fulfilling my commitment to Head Start. It’s not just about me; it’s about honoring my mother, my family, and the millions who have found hope through this incredible program. In our shared journey, we celebrate love, resilience, and the power of community.
