I’ve been developing a (year long) class for kids of all ages on (real) food and healing with the many tools God gives us. I have no idea where it will be taught one day, 😅 but He keeps directing my lesson plans and ideas, and I practice listening and praying.
Those who know a little of our family story know this became a real passion area of mine a year *before* Nick was diagnosed with Stage 3c colon cancer. THAT was a God thing - to place an intense interest in me, and a mountain of resources and research in my lap BEFORE it would be needed. 4 years ago today Nick had surgery for a 90% tumor blockage with cancer through the lymph system, and then made radical changes in a healing direction (without chemo or radiation). He has been “NED” (no evidence of disease) for 3.5 years, and that’s ALL GOD!! 🙌🏽
Of course I have my own areas I’m still healing in; and for some time I figured I shouldn’t teach in an area until I was all “fixed” myself. 😉 But God kept pushing me to start the class prep, showing me example after example of how He uses imperfect or broken people to do what He calls them to, and I finally gave in to the burning desire to start creating something like this (a course I’ve not seen done the same before).
We so often wait until people are hurting and broken and sick (in so many ways) before turning desperately to any solution that may help. Why not introduce these things to kids in small, age-fitting, ways so they have something to draw from throughout life when things get rocky. When I taught public high school and college courses, the health, family life, and psychology classes were my favorites to teach, hands down. BUT when you cannot openly include the Holy Spirit, prayer, and worship, in everything being taught, it leaves out the entire foundation for whole-person healing and wellness.
Long story short - I again have no idea where this full course will be taught one day in the future, but tomorrow I will get to share a tiny piece of one of my lessons on viruses, bacteria, and supporting our lymphatic and immune systems, with STEM classes full of kids where I can bring God’s AMAZING design of our bodies and the tools he gives us for real health and healing into the classroom. Excited! 😁
For a fun quiz game we will play:
Balloons = bacteria
Paper chads = viruses
We will do some experiments, go on a little outdoor quest (gotta get a little sunlight, fresh air, and movement in when we’re talking health), and taste some living whole food plant items that help put the GOOD bacteria we want into our guts’ microbiome (including an incredible anti-cancer, immune support smoothie I made fresh for students). 😋
