“Swamp Tea” - Labrador

•••Indigenous Month Post•••
Who has ever heard of swamp tea? I remember my gramps telling me for the first time he was teaching me natural teas and he said let’s try swamp tea. My first thought was, “it reminds me of something that be off shrek!”
Little did I know, it was a calming and very fragrant tea! In the Ojibwe nation we used for same things close to cedar, coughs, congestion, and sore throat.
What are some ways you where taught or learned on your own how to use this leaf?

Giizhik - Cedar
••••••••
What would you make with cedar that could be essential or homepathic in your life? I was taught from my traditions that we drink it as teas, use it as chest rubs, but also, it is a huge part in ceremonial traditions. A couple ways Anishinabae use cedar: we offer cedar during feasts in a fire when they give food dishes and to***co for our families who made their journey to the creator! We also hang up cedar above doors and windows to protect us from unwanted energies and spirits! What would you use it for?
