💡 Remember: Adults experience big emotions too. Managing our own responses can be challenging, and modeling emotional control is one of the best ways to teach it. Learn together, make mistakes, and apologize together. Show your children that it’s okay to feel big, love big, mess up big, and apologize big. Consistency at home builds safe, confident leadership, and being human is all part of the lesson.

Teaching emotional skills helps children feel understood, supported, and confident, while also learning that everyone—kids and adults alike—can grow and improve together. 💙

Drowning can happen to any family. It is quick and often silent, which is why constant supervision is so important.
Here are a few important water safety tips to remember:
• Swimming lessons are vital. The earlier children start, the more comfortable they become in the water and the better they learn important safety skills. In our community, local gyms and the City of Visalia offer swim lessons for all ages.• Even for a moment matters – accidents can happen in seconds.
• Do not rely on another child to supervise younger children around water.
• Designate a “Water Watcher.” During swim time, choose one responsible adult to stay within arm’s reach of children in the water and give their full attention to supervision.

🌷 Spring is here and being outside is the best! ☀️🚲
But don’t forget one very important piece of gear… a helmet!
A helmet should be standard equipment with your child’s bike. When buying a bike, make sure your child also has a Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)–approved helmet that fits correctly. Evidence shows that helmet use significantly decreases head injuries and deaths related to bicycle vs. motor vehicle crashes.
How to make sure your child’s helmet fits correctly:
✔️ The helmet should sit squarely on top of the head and cover the top of the forehead.
✔️ It should sit parallel to the ground when your child’s head is upright.
✔️ A good fit means the helmet doesn’t move around or slide down over the eyes when pushed or when your child shakes their head.
✔️ The chin strap should be snug for the best protection.
