🚑 Field Trip Highlight!
On 10/24, our Junior Medical Academy students led by Veva Blunt visited Station 54 here in Visalia! 🧯🚒
Students got a full tour of the station, explored the training facility behind it, and even sat inside the fire engine to experience what it’s like to ride to an emergency. 🚨
Another fantastic partnership giving our students a real-life view into careers in the medical and emergency response fields. ❤️‍🔥

Field Trip Fun! 🦷✨
On 10/21, Tulare’s Cypress class visited Wesslen Orthodontics! Students learned all about what goes on inside an orthodontist’s office from patient care to technology. One student even had her teeth 3D scanned to see how digital models are made!
We’re so thankful for community partnerships that give our JMA students the chance to explore real-world health careers and see professionals in action.

🦷✨ Today our Heartland Charter School students got hands-on exploring dental careers! They learned all about the different jobs in the dental world and the anatomy of teeth then built their own mini tooth models to take home and show off! 😁
Of course, we had to talk about silver teeth, and some creations even had a little Halloween flair! 🎃🦷💀

Thank you to our Career Pathways Team for helping with two amazing events today showcasing medical careers! 💙
Dallin represented us at the Career Fair, giving students a hands-on experience and sharing the many opportunities available in Health Careers especially the growing needs right here in the Central Valley. 🥬
One of our Career Pathways goals is to connect students with real opportunities helping them discover which careers are in demand, and giving them the tools to enter programs throughout the Central Valley. We’re so proud to see our scholarship students already beginning their educational journeys toward these vital careers! 🎓✨

🦷✨ Dr. Anthony Clark, DDS, visited Riverway Elementary School to teach students all about the life of a dentist! He shared real implant photos from previous patients, discussed the many exciting aspects of a career in dentistry, and even demonstrated different suturing techniques. HealthForce is leading the development of the Central Valley Regional Simulation Center, a hub that will expand clinical training opportunities and help address the healthcare workforce shortage. This center will serve learners and professionals across Tulare, Kings, Fresno, and Madera counties, shaping the future of patient care in our region.
We Need Your Expertise!
We’re building this project with guidance from 6 committees made up of industry and education partners. Four committees are already underway, and now we’re ready to launch the IT Committee.
About the IT Committee
This group will help determine the technology, software, and equipment needed to deliver state-of-the-art simulation training.

🚒 Big thanks to Charlie from Tulare County Fire Department for visiting the students at Golden Oak! 👨‍🚒🔥 The kids had a blast learning about the daily life of a firefighter and what it takes to be a first responder. 🌟 Employee Spotlight: Meet Patty! 🌟
With over 25 years in the medical field, Patty’s passion for helping others shines through in everything she does. In 2011, she began teaching Medical Assisting at SJVC and quickly found her calling in education. She later became an Allied Health Division Manager, blending her leadership skills with her love for helping students grow.
Now, with 14+ years in education, Patty is embracing a new chapter as a Program Manager at JMA and loving the opportunity to work with kids and make a positive impact.
Outside of work, Patty is a proud mom of 3 and grandma to 4 (2 boys and 2 girls), plus grandma to 11 fur babies: 8 dogs and 3 cats! She enjoys crafting and vending at local community shows, but her favorite pastime is spending quality time with her family.
We’re so lucky to have Patty on our team!

🚁✨ Huge thank you to Skylife Air Ambulance for an incredible field trip! Our Kohn Elementary JMA students had an unforgettable experience learning about the vital role of first responders and how they use helicopters to save lives across the region.
This is exactly why the Junior Medical Academy exists to expose students to the many exciting and essential careers in healthcare they may have never known about.
We’re so grateful for opportunities like this that inspire the next generation of healthcare heroes! 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️💙
