Refinement is the answer.

As frustrating as it is and demoralizing as it can be this is the point that tells you a lot about where you’re currently at and what you need to do to breakthrough.

When pain shows up the first instinct is to stop.

But that’s where most go wrong.

Stopping entirely only sets you back further.

Pain is a signal and it’s the last signal that shows up.

So what does that tell us?

There has been a lot of build up to the point of experiencing pain.

It’s never one thing it’s a multitude.

So what do you do?

You start listening.

And when you listen close enough you start discovering the root causes and once you find those you start addressing.

Listen. Discover. Address.

That’s the order if you’re wanting to get out of pain.

Pain creeps in and eventually starts eroding who you are and what you do.

Demoralizing and deflating to say the least.

It’s not about just being pain free.

It’s about being able to show up in the world the way you want to with no limitations.

It’s about having the confidence that your body will be able to do what you want when you want.

Hard doesn’t mean effective.

And effective doesn’t mean hard.

We stopped worrying about how hard a workout was, how much sweat happened, how many calories burned from it because it was sending the wrong message.

We aim for effectiveness because nothing is more frustrating than spending a bunch of time and energy with nothing to show for it other than a pile of sweat.

Long term progress > short term intensity.

Doing random things leads to random outcomes and a lot of the time no outcome at all.

Usually the people we end up working with have tried random and found that it doesn’t work.

It’s maybe gotten results for a short period of time then stopped.

But why?

Because the wrong levers are being pulled and they don’t realize it because no one is leading them to the right levers.

Progress in health and fitness comes from improvement across multiple areas not just one.

This is the power of intentional plans and coaching that leads you to working on the things that will actually cause change.

Intentional > Random.

Yeah we all get older.

But the rate in which it happens can be influenced by you and what you do.

Your daily actions, habits and beliefs all shape this.

Imagine having a leak in your roof.

You notice the leak when it’s raining because water is dripping into your kitchen.

But instead of repairing the hole you just wait until it stops raining.

Just because there’s no water in your house doesn’t mean the hole is gone.

It just means the environment isn’t exposing the hole in your roof.

But what happens when it does again?

The water will leak into your kitchen again.

Resting when you’re hurting is the same as not repairing the hole and waiting for the rain to stop.

The hole is still there it’s just not being exposed.

That’s not progress that’s breakdown disguised as progress.

We firmly believe your exercise program should elevate your life not just your weight lifting numbers.

Recovery isn’t just time spent out of the gym.

It’s in the habits you have, the things you do and the life you live.

If you give the body a proper environment for recovery it’ll do the rest.

You don’t need to add to your schedule to improve recovery.

You need to subtract. Unplug. Pause.
