Our focus is making YOU comfortable so you can move through whatever current struggle you’re facing. We strive for the highest quality in our approach as we help individuals and families go beyond merely surviving and move toward THRIVING! Child and Adolescent Counseling Services
Mental health is a key component in a child’s healthy development. Children need to be emotionally and psychologically healthy in order to learn, grow, and lead productive lives. The Thrive model takes into account a very important reality: Children don’t know what therapy IS because therapy is a very adult concept. Kids need therapy for KIDS! Children’s brain development, verbal skills, impulse control, coping skills and reasoning abilities are immature and not the same as those of adults. Some see these as limitations . . . when in fact, using the competencies of childhood: fantasy, imagination, playfulness, curiosity and openness to learning are the best ways to help kids succeed. By expressing themselves symbolically through toys in play therapy, children are able to distance themselves from difficult feelings and memories, which are frequently too hard for them to talk about directly with others. This gives children the opportunity to communicate their fears, worries, problems, wishes, and desires to others, even if it is done symbolically through toys. Other adults in children’s lives, such as play therapists and parents, can then get a better understanding of children’s inner worlds, which allows these adults to understand what children need in order to provide the appropriate type of help and support. Family Therapy
Our family affects who we are and who we become, both for the better and for worse. We learn our vocabulary, our habits, our customs and rituals, and how to view and observe the world around us. Anyone seeking healthier, closer family relationships can benefit from family therapy. Family therapy is necessary to address family issues and heal a family’s wounds. If any of the above scenarios resonates with your family, consider seeking family therapy. Family therapy can be beneficial on many different levels. Couples Therapy
All things can be improved, changed and bettered, with just a little support, no matter how big or small. With couples therapy, you’ll learn how to communicate your feelings and needs, and get what you want out of your relationship. In couples therapy sessions, we help you develop the necessary skills needed to maintain sustaining love.

As we approach the end of Black History Month, we’re reminded that honoring Black history, resilience, and achievement cannot be confined to just one month.

Black mental health matters all year long. It means acknowledging the impact of systemic inequities, breaking stigma around seeking support, amplifying Black voices in wellness spaces, and ensuring access to culturally responsive care. Celebration is important—but so is sustained commitment.

Let’s continue to learn, advocate, uplift, and prioritize Black mental health—not just in February, but every single day. Thank you Mental Health Coalition for your informative posts this month 💜🧡💚💙

Our Story

Where Kids Thrive, Inc’s purpose is to address the lack of mental health resources, particularly for children, adolescents, and their families. Mental health is a key component in a child’s healthy development. Children need to be emotionally and psychologically healthy in order to learn, grow, and lead productive lives. Youth involved in child welfare or the juvenile justice system are exposed to a higher risk of having experienced traumatic events. Children who are exposed to traumatic events have a higher probability of developing mental health conditions.
