I'm having a little bit of a writing reset today and preparing my heart to get back into the rhythm of writing after taking the summer off. In doing so, I had the realization today that God called me to write "Recovering Love" almost 10 years ago, and it's STILL not done. For a brief moment discouragement set in, and then almost instantly I was reminded of Philippians 1:6.
“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”
For the last couple of hours, he has been speaking to my heart, pointing out truths and giving me a prayer to pray each time I sit down to write. Its been beautiful, and I hope that this can speak to you wherever you are in your story or journey. I'm looking forward to the day when it is "FINALLY finished," but until then I will continue holding tight to these truths that He's showing me today:
*God Himself initiated this work in you. The healing you’ve experienced is not random—it’s His hand shaping and restoring you. The impulse to write is part of that same work. He planted both the healing and the desire to testify.
*You don’t carry the weight of finishing it alone. Just as He didn’t leave you halfway healed, He won’t leave you halfway in your calling. The same God who walked you through the hardest places will empower you to finish the writing, even when it feels daunting.
*Your story is evidence of His faithfulness. Writing becomes not just a book, but a testimony that what He begins, He sustains. You’re not simply recording your past—you’re partnering with Him to bring that “good work” to a wider audience for His glory.
*Completion is His promise, not just your task. The verse is a reminder that the fruit of your book—who it reaches, how it transforms lives—rests in His hands. Your obedience is the offering, but He will bring it to fullness.
And I'm also trusting whole-heartedly that my book WILL be done before "the day when Christ Jesus returns." 😘
