Preceptors needed!! Calling all physicians and PAs!
Background
Prior studies suggest that physician assistants/associates (PAs) are more likely to work in underresourced areas.

Methods
Researchers analyzed a comprehensive national database to examine the demographic and practice characteristics of PAs working in HPSAs/MUAs compared to those in other settings from 2022.

Results
Nearly 23% of PAs reported practicing in HPSAs/MUAs
Over a third (34.6%) work in primary care settings
33.3% identify as men
15.6% reside in rural/isolated areas
14.0% are from an underrepresented in medicine (URiM) background.

Factors associated with higher odds of practicing in a HPSA/MUA included residing in rural/isolated settings,
URiM background, and speaking a language other than English with patients.

Conclusions
As the PA profession grows, let’s help address some of these shortages!

Did you know you can earn CME as a clinical preceptor?

Welcome to Baylor University’s Master of Physician Assistant Studies Degree Program Page!

Baylor University in Waco, Texas, is a private Christian university and a nationally ranked research institution.

Chartered in 1845 by the Republic of Texas through the efforts of Baptist pioneers, Baylor is the oldest continually operating university in Texas. Located in Waco, Baylor welcomes students from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and 90 countries to study a broad range of degrees among its 12 nationally recognized academic divisions.

Baylor is now proud to declare the first MPAS class will matriculate in Fall 2025 and we are looking for interested healthcare professionals to partner with to continue the longstanding commitment to education Baylor is known for. Clinical experiences are essential to the PA learning model and we need you to help the continuum of learning by becoming part of the Baylor team.

Preceptors are needed nationwide given our hybrid model and students will be placed based on their location and state of origin into the program to help staff underserved populations and give back to communities in need the best way we can.

Please help us help you educate quality PAs to work with you on your team in the future by educating them well during this critical time.

Contact the Director of Clinical Education today if you are interested in being a preceptor!
