Meet Jamie Virgillito, Certified Orthotic Assistant at Rebound Orthotics & Prosthetics.

Jamie's path to O&P was a winding one. She grew up on a hobby farm in Carver County, earned a bachelor's in veterinary technology from North Dakota State University, and worked in the veterinary field before returning to school for a career in human medicine. She finished Century College's Orthotic and Prosthetic Fitter associate's degree and Clinical Application Diploma in 2021, then joined Rebound the same year. She's an ABC Certified Orthotic Assistant and is currently working toward her Certified Prosthetic Assistant credential.

Jamie helps with patient fittings, adjustments, and follow-up care across our four Minnesota locations.

There are a handful of cranial remolding helmets on the market. Here's why we use the Talee at Rebound.

It's 3D-printed, which means it's lighter, thinner, and more breathable than traditional plastic helmets. The mesh structure lets air circulate so it stays cooler during sleep and summer. And it's used in 40+ countries with a strong clinical track record.

It's also customizable. You can pick colors, add up to 15 characters of text, and choose an engraved symbol. Treatment lasts a few months, so if you can make the helmet feel like your baby's helmet, it makes the whole thing easier.

Meet Heather, who came to this work because of her Grandpa Ron.

Grandpa Ron was a transradial amputee. He didn't let it slow him down. He earned his pilot's license so he could take his grandkids flying, and he taught Heather's mom how to barrel race horses. Heather puts it like this: "My grandfather's outlook on life inspired me to help others not be defined by limitations, but rather defy them."

She earned her bachelor's and master's in Orthotics and Prosthetics from Concordia University Saint Paul, working as a Certified Orthotic Fitter and Certified Prosthetic Assistant in southern Minnesota the whole time she was in school. She joined the Rebound team in August 2022, and she's completed her residency here and now is board eligible.

If you're working with Heather, you're working with someone who got into this work for personal reasons and stayed for the right ones.
