Hi All!
As many of you know, I am going out of network with Excellus BCBS. This was an absolutely agonizing decision and one I did not take lightly. The main reason being that Excellus prefers chiropractors to only provide the adjustment, that is all they approve in a visit. If you are a patient then you are aware that I incorporate therapies such as electrical stim, ultrasound, manual soft tissue manipulation and instrument assisted soft tissue manipulation. Therapies I continued to provide to my Excellus patients for 11 years with absolutely zero reimbursement from Excellus.
Some of you may have received a letter from Excellus stating that you will need to pick another doctor from their list of participating doctors to provide your care. This is not true. I’m not going anywhere :) While you of course always have the option to transfer your care, if you choose to stay with me I’ll continue to provide you with exceptional care.
They further go on to say in the letter that as a member you can choose to receive care from out-of-network providers. If you are on an Excellus plan and you are a continuing patient then I have looked up your out-of-network benefits and compiled all of that data that I can share with you. For most of you, I have already shared those terms with you. Many of you have out-of-network benefits that are close to what you are paying for in-network chiropractic care. A fact that Excellus does not advertise is that many of you are paying for the majority of your visit in your co-pay cost and Excellus is paying out less than $10 per visit.
I understand that insurance is more stressful than ever and I’m here to help and answer your questions. Thank you all for having me as your chiropractor.
